I recently added the Compassion Pregnancy Center under "information and referral"  in the Resources Phone list, even though they would fit under more than one category.  The updated phone list and other resource lists are available to view, print, or download at http://macombresources.info

Compassion Pregnancy Center is a crisis pregnancy center--crisis being defined as whatever one may consider to be a crisis.  They provide information and levels of support to pregnant women, single or married--physical support, emotional support, spiritual support and material goods.  They offer free pregnancy tests and free maternity clothes--all of their services are free and confidential.  Trained peer counselors meet with the girls every month for up to a year after the birth, and also provide a layette, a coming home box, and monthly diapers.  The women can also earn merits for larger items, such as a crib, high chair, stroller, and car seat.  The pamphlet for the Compassion Pregnancy Center lists the following services: free pregnancy test, information on pregnancy, abortion and alternatives, ongoing counseling and emotional support, referrals for medical care, social services and legal aid, referrals to community resources and agencies, including adoption, housing referrals for clients who are in need, prenatal, infant and child care classes, maternity & baby clothing furniture and supplies, post adbortion counseling, abstinence education.
They used to have two centers, but the center in New Baltimore has closed.  Their one center is located just north of 16 Mile Road at 37540 Gratiot, Suite 100 (next to Taco Bell).  Their phone number (which is now on the phone list) is 586-783-2229.  They have about 40-50 trained volunteers--donations and volunteers are always welcome.

Thank you for sharing this information with your co-workers and the people we serve.
