Egg recalls, cyclospora and salmonella with jalapenos

Added info for you and the clients we serve :

Both the jalapenos (from Taylor Farms) and the egg recall are for salmonella and salmonella enteritidis respectively, and are both active and in effect in Michigan thru 16th and 17th August Best By dates  (that does not mean the recalls are lifted and the outbreaks over since people may have the products in their homes beyond that date).                                                                                          NOTE  the jalapenos salmonella outbreak applies to dips and salsa products containing the produce sold in Kroger stores in Michigan.                                                                                

Jalapeño Peppers & Dips (Salmonella Alert):      

On August 8, 2026, the USDA and FDA flagged fresh jalapeños and downstream products (salsas, dips, and prepared foods containing jalapeños) for potential Salmonella contamination.       

Taylor Farms voluntarily recalled 20 products containing these peppers, including two specific items distributed to retail stores in Michigan (such as Kroger) with "Best by" dates up to August 16, 2026.   

Active Egg Recalls - Midwest Poultry Services Egg Recall:        

A major voluntary recall of nearly 1.6 million cartons (about 19 million shell eggs) remains active due to a Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak.                                                                           

The recalled white and brown cage-free eggs were produced in Texas with "Sell by" or "Best by" dates ranging from July 20, 2026, to August 17, 2026. Affected cartons feature plant codes P-1950 or 0840962 and Julian dates between 157 and 184.   

Michigan is among the states with reported illnesses tied to this broader investigation of the egg recall despite the sales being sourced/targeted as in Texas.   Investigators are exploring secondary contamination across the food chain delivery network, and possible secondary sale points of distribution outside of Texas for the recalled eggs.   

The investigation remains as continuing per the USDA.
