Subject: MDHHS: New EBT/Bridge Cards
To: Barrier Busters 2026 Listserv <L-Barrie...@washtenaw.org>

Michigan's Bridge Card (EBT) is getting an upgrade with new chip and tap-to-pay technology to better protect food and cash assistance benefits. These upgrades are intended to help reduce fraud and better protect food and cash assistance benefits for Michigan residents.

  • To ensure the new Bridge Card is delivered to the correct address, recipients should visit MI Bridges or call 1-844-464-3447 to make sure their mailing address is up to date by Friday, August 7th.
  • New cards will be mailed to recipients automatically in 3 waves between August and September 2026. The current Bridge Card will continue to work until the new Bridge Card arrives in the mail and is activated. The old card can be discarded when the new card is activated. Existing magnetic-stripe cards will completely stop working on Friday, Oct. 30.
  • If cards are not received by Friday, Sept. 25 please visit MI Bridges or call 1-888-678-8914 to verify the mailing address.
  • There is no cost to receive a new chip- and tap-enabled Bridge Card. However, per Michigan law, a recipient is responsible to pay for the costs to replace a Bridge Card. The replacement fee for the new card is $5.51, which is deducted from recipients’ available benefits.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 1-844-464-3447.

Thank you,
