Greetings, Everyone.
Julia Albarracin-Green, a Macomb resident and member of the IL Commission on Discrimination and Hate Crimes, has asked the Macomb Feminist Network to co-sponsor a gathering in the Community Room of City Hall on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm., to provide an opportunity for community members, on campus and off, to meet with Board members of the Commission. The Commission wants to hear from Illinois residents about their experiences and to explain its mission and share resources for people who have either experienced discrimination and hate crimes themselves or are their allies.
The MFN Board readily agreed to co-sponsor this event when Julia asked us if we would. I hope you will help support it by participating yourself and by spreading the word to people who may benefit from it in one way or another. I've attached the flyer for the event. It would be a plus if victims of discrimination or hate crimes could speak for themselves about their experiences at this event, but sometimes it's up to allies to speak for them.
This seems to be an opportunity that could be helpful to Macomb residents, and one that does not come around often.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Thank you.
Janice
