Dear Macomb Feminist Network Members,
You are invited to attend a virtual community engagement forum designed to provide you with a preview and an opportunity for input on a Wellness-Centered De-Escalation training curriculum and scenarios (see below for an explanation of "wellness-centered"). During this session (Aug 21 @ 1:30 pm CST) you will have an opportunity to discuss and critique situations that officers use to practice de-escalation skills. For more information see the attached flyer. Also, please forward this to people you think might be interested in attending.
Seating is limited. Secure your spot today for this online event! Let me know if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Virginia Diehl, on behalf of Kim McClure
Wellness-centered de-escalation training is designed to improve officer wellness in the moment, not just through after-action review or long-term therapy. This is achieved by equipping officers with specific tools that help them stay grounded, think clearly, and regulate their physiological stress while they are in the middle of a dynamic, high-stakes encounter.
