Now that we've moved into September it seems a good time to send out our September meeting agenda and remind you that the program for this meeting will be a forum revolving around ideas about how we might ensure Macomb continues to be a welcoming and energizing place to live. Please consider sharing your own ideas about this---and inviting a friend who can also contribute to the idea pool.

MFN Meeting Agenda

September 13, 2025, 10:00 -11:30 a.m.

Community Room, Macomb City Hall

Chair: Sally Egler

Program/A Forum: Macomb Moving Forward.  A Wall Street Journal (WSJ) article this spring implied Macomb was a "dying community" because of the dramatic decline in WIU enrollment. While the article has prompted many reactions already, please participate in this forum to discuss positive ways to energize and strengthen the Macomb community. Sally Egler will moderate the meeting and Amanda Dean and one of her collaborators will begin the discussion.

Responding to the WSJ, Amanda, a relatively newcomer to Macomb, spoke up almost immediately with her strong, enthusiastic take on Macomb and followed that with an invitation to other residents to participate in a 30-day series of “No Place Like Macomb” letters expressing their views of the city. Can we move forward from there to identify dynamic new ways to reinforce Macomb’s appeal?  MFN board members are inviting several individuals, some with established roots in Macomb, some new to our community, to participate by sharing and/or listening to ideas on this subject. All members are encouraged to contribute and to invite friends and acquaintances to do the same.
