This incarnation of MESA-Web is a re-implementation of the original ASU service that supports greater computational capacity, plus a number of other improvements. We've striven to keep the functionality the same, but the look and feel is slightly different (to fit in with the unintentionally retro aesthetic of Mad Star).

To use MESA-Web, visit the calculation submission page and follow the instructions at the top. To learn how to customize input parameters, see the MESA-Web Input page; and to understand the outputs produced by a completed calculation, see the MESA-Web Output page.

The Modules for Experiments in Stellar Astrophysics (MESA) code at the heart of the MESA-Web tool provides a modern software infrastructure for sustained innovation in the stellar astrophysics community. MESA solves the 1D fully coupled structure and composition equations governing stellar evolution with an implicit finite volume scheme. State-of-the-art modules provide adaptive mesh refinement, sophisticated timestep controls, non-adiabatic oscillation capabilities, equation of state, opacity, nuclear reaction rates, element diffusion, boundary conditions, and changes to the mass of the star.

Grand Mesa Observatory is a nonprofit organization that will provide hands-on experiences and educational opportunities to help foster a passion for astronomy and science in western Colorado as well as throughout the United States. Our goal is to help inspire the next generation of American scientists, astronomers, and STEM educators by providing access to world-class facilities and educational opportunities by either in person hands-on or remote control of the telescopes in the observatory.

Wow, I am so happy that I found Valerie! She truly is a gifted astrologer. Her readings are so in depth & thought provoking. She connected with me in an other-worldly way. Her intuition & interpretations of my chart were incredible and helpful. I have found my go-to astrologer in Valerie.

I'm so lucky to have won a giveaway 4 years ago to have Valerie read my chart. I've worked with her since & have loved our sessions. She's an artist above all & is authentic in her work. Valerie makes you feel seen as she narrates aspects of your chart & turns them into a beautiful story.

tulips creates diagrams of the structure and evolution of stars. It creates plots and movies based on output fromthe MESA stellar evolution code.tulips represents stars as circles of varying size and color.tulips' capabilities include visualizing the size and perceived color of stars, their interiormixing and nuclear burning processes, their chemical composition, and comparing different MESA models.

tulips makes use of the open-source python modules mesaPlot by R. Farmer, colorpy by M. Kness, CMasher, numpy, astropy, matplotlib, and of ipython/jupyter.Logo design: A. Faber. Documentation: I. de Langen. Created and developed by Eva Laplace.

The crisp smell of pion pines, juniper and sage float through the air as a slight breeze rustles through the desert foliage. Stars twinkle overhead and you can hear the wing beat of a raven as it flies through the dark sky above you. Nearby, an outline of ancient Ancestral Puebloan structures are visible through the starlight and the world feels still and peaceful. Stargaze among ancient dwellings for a unique, thought-provoking experience on your next trip to Mesa Verde Country.

The night skies over Hovenweep National Monument, Canyons of the Ancients National Monument and Mesa Verde National Park are some of the darkest in the country. Because of this, they offer incredible stargazing opportunities year round.

A vast stretch of land 12 miles west of Mesa Verde National Park, Canyons of the Ancients National Monument contains the highest known archaeological site density in the United States. We encourage you to stop by the Visitor Center and Museum before you head to the Monument area. Grab a map and talk to a ranger about the best places to see dwellings, hike, and stargaze.

If you are interested in camping here, there are several dispersed backcountry campsites near the Sand Canyon Pueblo. There are also many trails in this area for night or daytime exploration. For a great astrophotography site, make sure to visit the Painted Hand Pueblo. This magnificent structure looks breathtaking against a starry night sky. Canyons of the Ancients tends to be a bit more rugged than neighboring Hovenweep and Mesa Verde. Because of this, we recommend exploring in the daylight first to find a good spot to set up! For Visitor Center and Museum hours and the best spots to stargaze among ancient dwellings, call (970) 882-5600 or click here.

Ancient and mysterious, the structures and rock art panels at Hovenweep National Monument appear to have been designed to mark major celestial events such as the summer and winter solstices. While there is no definite proof of this, it encourages visitors to take some time and absorb the beauty of the night sky. Hovenweep is the 17th International Dark Sky Park and here the skies are truly almost as dark as they were 800 years ago.

Here, the trails are only open from sunrise to sunset, but you can still stargaze from the visitor center parking lot as well as the campgrounds. From the parking lot you will be able to get to the overlook at Stronghold House (even after sunset) as well as an incredible view of Sleeping Ute Mountain. For a more in-depth version of this experience, there are ranger-led stargazing tours that are available during the summer. These tours will allow you to venture farther into the Monument after dark and to truly stargaze among ancient dwellings. For up-to-date information on stargazing tours, call (970) 562-4282 or click here.

For the clearest views of the stars, we recommend enjoying these areas in the winter or early spring. Long nights mean more time to gaze, and cold air holds less hazy moisture, making for clearer conditions. Also, coming to visit during a new moon will help you spot the most stars. Make sure to bundle up, bring some lawn chairs, blankets, hot cocoa and a headlamp or flashlight!

Nestled in a side valley at the western end of the Grand Mesa at an altitude of 6,100 feet, Grand Mesa Observatory is an astronomy observatory complex shielded somewhat from the lights of nearby towns and cities, where amazing photos of deep sky celestial objects are captured.

These objects include galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, star birthing regions, interstellar dust clouds, and planetary nebulae. Many of the images taken at Grand Mesa Observatory have been featured in widely read astronomy magazines. Some have even been chosen as NASA Astronomy Photos of the Day. And all taken from right here in Western Colorado!

The observatory complex includes a 16 x 32 foot roll-off roof observatory that houses 6 telescopes on computerized tracking mounts, fitted with cameras for astrophotography, and a separate dome observatory with a 16-inch telescope that is used remotely for research by astronomy students around the country and the world.

As the sun set on the shortest day of the year, Munson, a former Mesa Verde park ranger and researcher, watched as the sun appeared to plunge into Sun Temple, an enigmatic structure perched on a promontory atop Chapin Mesa across the canyon from his vantage point.

To check her work, Towers created a computer model of Sun Temple, then rotated it in more than 200 configurations. She said only in its real-world positioning does Sun Temple most closely match the alignments of major stars in the mid-13th century, when Sun Temple is believed to have been built.

As her research has broadened, Towers said she believes many sites around Sun Temple may hold more astronomical alignments. From a boulder covered in ancient carvings at nearby Balcony House, Towers says the winter solstice sunrise would appear to emerge from the vertex of an L-shape formed by a cliff face and the top of Chapin Mesa across the canyon, though she has not yet had a chance to observe the phenomenon in person.
