Hello, cool application!

I have a question regarding lift analysis. I have been playing with the out of the box airfoil and wing root and wing sweep. As I adjust wing sweep negative I see lift increases to what looks like a huge pole. Am I doing something wrong or is there a high level write up of the limitations of the program? I have not taken the course yet, but I plan to. Please let me know if that covers what I am looking for. I just started designing, so pardon any newbie questions!

Hi Ched,

The spike in lift you see for negative sweep angles is an artifact of the lifting-line algorithm as it is implemented. For small sweep angles, it should not affect your total lift/drag computations significantly.

We are working on a modification to the algorithm that will alleviate the problem in future versions.

Best,
Doug

Hello,

I am a user of MachUpPro and quite happy to hear an updated version is in the works.
Will the version with this new algorithm be uploaded into the github source?
if so, do you have an idea on when this will happen?

Hi Marco

Our newest version, MachUpX, is now available on Github.

Thanks

Yup, thanks for your hard work!
I was aware of it and am keeping a close eye on it.
checking it almost daily to see if a commit for swept wing calculation is added.
Will start to use it as soon as the changes to give correct results for swept wing are implemented.
