Conference call on iPhone

Am I imagining this or has making a conference call with an iPhone goten much harder to do? You have to hit Add (Add what?) then tap keypad then punch in number then hit add number. It feels like you are adding a contact and not a call. I think that previously you just tapped “add call” then the number.
