So, I've been checking out Railo clicking through the administrator. I
noticed a feature for installing different applications and frameworks
right in the admin which is pretty darn cool. Well I noticed that
MachII was available as an option to install so I went ahead and gave
it a try. The only problem is that I noticed it installed MachII
version 1.5! Thats two versions old now.

Do you guys have any influence in this? I'm guessing this is something
to bring up with the Railo guys...

I have to say that this feature seems very, very cool. So far I'm very
impressed with Railo's cfml implementation, even if I've only looked
at the admin so far... :D

I didn't realize they were doing this so I'm not sure where they're pulling from. I wonder if they grabbed a zip that they're hosting on some sort of centralized distribution server for stuff like this? I'd have to look into it.

If they're going to have Mach-II available in this way we'd of course like to have the latest version up there, so I'll try to ping the Railo list (or if you're on there feel free to ask yourself) and see what's involved here.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Thanks Eric--Peter Bell from Railo also got in touch with me so we'll work with them to get it resolved. Thanks to everyone for bringing this to our attention and for following up on the Railo list for us.

Hi Brian,

I have updated the MachII extension and now we are on 1.8.1. Can
anyone check the Railo extension by giving it a whirl from the Admin
section?
Matt, Peter if you like you guys from MachII can take care of the
extension in the future. The extension allows you to install and
uninstall the framework...
Just let me know.

Thanks Gert! We'll look into all of this and let you know.

I'm not exactly sure how to go about updating that. All I had done was
downloaded railo paired with jetty in the download section and ran
that.

Thanks Gert,

I ran through the installer and everything seems to work correctly.  It installed Mach-II 1.8, the skeleton, the Dashboard, and created the mappings as well.  I didn't actually try to run a Mach-II application on it, just verified that it downloaded/installed the framework.

Is that the installer that was available direct from the download
section of the website?

Yes that's the one... So you would probably need to uninstall the old one
and use this one to try the 1.8.1 version out...
