Appreciatethe new filter for guest favorites, but that is not equivalent to booking with a Super Host, which gives me a lot of comfort when booking in an unfamiliar location. Guest ratings are always a little suspect. I hope this filter is reinstated, I may never book on airbnb again, too risky otherwise.

Yes, I can confirm the Superhost filter has been removed. This is to simplify some of the search filters and we added a new Guest Favorites filter to help guests find some of the most-loved homes on the platform. Guests will still be able to see whether their Host is a Superhost on the listing page.

Guest Favorites are evaluated on a listing level, while Superhosts are based on the individual Host. A Superhost that adds a new listing, for example, would need to host several stays before their new listing could be considered for Guest Favorites.

@Jessie90 The Superhost criteria are also based on guest ratings so there isn't a huge amount of difference between the two. Quite why the Superhost filter been taken away from you when searching for properties is beyond me. I'll try and find the definitions of the two.

Yes, gone completely. I guess I thought Airbnb did some other, additional vetting, so maybe it doesn't matter as much- except in cases where it's a new listing with no reviews, but managed by a superhost. I'm hoping at the very least the superhost designation stays, but then it's a two step process for the search.

thank you for the reply. Also strange is for a booking I made, the host is a Superhost, the ratings are 4.93 and generally excellent and yet it is not a guest favorite! Still some kinks in the system I guess.

@Jessie90 Is the 4.93 the host rating or the property rating? I ask because we have 4 listings across 3 apartments and while all say Superhost only 3 are guest favourites because one is new and hasn't yet got 5 reviews.

@Breanna It really looks as if Guest Favourites (lets hope its spelled properly in the UK) are heading toward something that is just made up by Airbnb. Superhost criteria were absolutely clear (though not loved by all) whereas Guest Favourites, if dynamic, seem to be whatever Airbnb want them to be on any particular day. Ho hum....

I agree with that. It seems that Airbnb is trying to "big brother" travelers into picking listing that they think should be picked. Guests can no longer pick based on their will e.g. superhost for one, reviews and Airbnb should add "review count" too into the filter. Current filter is worse than Booking.com and for that reason I'll be using BDC myself to book for my stays. Bad move Airbnb.

This is a very unpredictable act from the AIRIBNB against their most reliable and loyal hosts.

I see a huge drop in bookings on my 4 popular supershost listings after the Superhost filter got removed. Now I need to try other plattforms for the first time in 10 years. But hopefully it benefits me in the end to get more sales channels. I don't understand how AIRBNB can benefit on this. Also it would be interesting to check the legality of this since I have been promised this Superhost filter in every renewing of my Superhost status.

My kitchen is not listed but hey if i say no they'll never give me 5 stars cause i said no to that...so you'll say yes and you'll hate your guts lol for doing it cause your kitchen is NOT listed!

Now if the lights goes off or ac is not working or the wall is scratched I won't feel like I'm a falsario and if people get noisy i will be able to say something. I feel like everyone is much more mature now, generally speaking, plus there are really no diff between the service given to host and superhost.

I right now have a guest who had just 5 stars...yeah, sure. never remember to turn off anything, stays in the shared bathroom for ever and didn't read ANYTHING of the description, she was prolly a pain the ass for other hosts too but that's what wanting a good review does to you.

@Branka-and-Silvia0 and there's the problem. I did raise my prices and get more bookings but think it had more to do with the busy season coming up so I don't count on it to make a difference in the slow season - e.g. won't do me any good. However, I have had some guests who are aware who have used it against me - "I know you want to keep Superhost...". I think there's some truth to it causing increased expectations and some guests feeling they have some power because they are aware of ratings and such. I had to tell a recent guest that he couldn't check in 3 hours early and his reply was "oh, I thought because you were a superhost". It irks me because I don't think the benefits outweigh the extra trouble. There have been a few times that it did help when I had to call CS, so that may be the best perk.

In this crazy world where we live, if one behave like a prey, one will be seen like a prey by the predators.

A superhost is not a prey. It is one that are supposed to offer a good stay and to deal successfully with any type of guest, being them normal (the majority are normal or great guests) or bad guests.

However, I must admit that sometimes it is very tiring.

Right on attitude and totally respect where your coming from but one large perk of the superhost is getting much better placement on the feed. I also noticed a faster response on the support side. But if you are happy then thats all that matters right?

I tried hard to be super host, but with multiple listings, thousands of different guests, hundreds of reviews, I always got messed up ultimately by one or two refund seekers, high expectationers, or lifetime complainers. I have to give up. The star pattern is: five, five, five, five, five, five, five....two, three, you got warning, lists needs attention, then five, five, five, five, five, five, five, five, bum one, or four again you got warning....

im litler sad. people want cheap places but when arrive thay want a palace. they dont read the description. i recived 4 stars because he thinks there i need more apliances in the kitchen, makes me feel sad because i give him a special offert for the entire house . i recive a nother 4 star because she complained about a cleaning products . this was very fustrate to me. i put a lot off work . things hapens.

I was a super host also, recently lost that status, because of not enough reviews (I need 10 for a year if I am not mistaken, I got 6 this year, other booking sites fill my accommodation much faster/better, airbnb simply cannot catch up with them but I appreciate each booking, so I continued with Airbnb)

And that is: improve my accommodation each year, add extra services if possible, add extra facilities if possible (my accommodation is already very well equipped so I say "if possible") and I do all that NOT because of the super host status or to get a good review, it's simply how I do my business,

I keep games, stuffed animals, toys in the room that I rent. I've had at least two sets of guests ask me if they were staying in someone's actual room. To which I reply no, as I have those things for guests that travel with children. I have to be prepared for all guests not just adults. Some people think it's all about them and they should have the room adjusted to their tastes. Too bad.

Hi, I am Sarah, and I am proud to be a top-rated Airbnb host! I am also a mom, wife, and travel blogger. I use this blog as both a way to share our travels and share my experience as an Airbnb host. So, if you are interested in either of those, you have come to the right place! Airbnb hosting (and owning investment property) has changed our lives, and I am incredibly passionate about it. It is very rewarding to help others get started on their journey, and today I want to share more about how you can become an Airbnb Superhost.

Want to be a superhost? Well, the first step is to become an Airbnb host! Getting started on Airbnb is easy, and I find the platform to be incredibly user-friendly. I plan to write a separate post on how actually to get set up, but since most of my readers are already hosts, I am going to jump ahead and share more about the Airbnb Superhost program with you now. Today, I want to talk specifically about achieving superhost status.

Airbnb Superhosts are the cream of the crop. These are generally hosts that you can count on for a seamless stay. As a requirement, they must have near-perfect reviews, be quick to respond, and have a very low rate of cancellations. In a nutshell, a superhost is someone you can feel confident booking with. Are they perfect? Probably not. No one is. But they provide a wonderful guest experience and are consistently high performers who are awarded this title and the Superhost badge on their listings.

In most cases, you will be shooting for the first metric, which is having at least 10 reservations completed in the 12 months prior to a superhost assessment. This is not difficult to hit if your vacation rental is in a busy market (like ours on 30A) with a high occupancy rate and you host guests for short stays (2-3 nights). The latter option, 3 reservations totaling 100+ nights, is more for hosts with long-term renters, such as snowbirds!

I have had times when a guest instant booked a reservation that clearly violated my rules. An instance of this is when a reservation came through for my studio condo on 30A with bunk beds. That unit allows 2 adults + up to 2 children on the bunk beds.

This one is easy to understand but involves the most work. We all strive for 5-star Airbnb reviews; as long as you can get them most of the time, you will be good here! Just be a great host. Make sure your communication is friendly and your place clean and welcoming.

If and when you do earn Superhost, you will receive an email and a notification in your account (around the 6th of the month) that lets you know that you have earned Airbnb Superhost. Shortly thereafter, the superhost badge will be visible on your profile and listings.
