Dear Macaulay2 user,
We are happy to announce the release of Macaulay2, version 1.25.11. For the list of changes, see
https://macaulay2.com/doc/Macaulay2/share/doc/Macaulay2/Macaulay2Doc/html/_changes_cm_sp1.25.11.html.
For instructions on installing Macaulay2 or building it from source, please see the wiki at
https://github.com/Macaulay2/M2/wiki. Note that there are new instructions for Fedora, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Debian users. (Packages for Debian stable are not yet available for the new release, but should appear in the next few days.)
We'll look forward to the next release, version 1.26.05, on May 15, 2026. Beginning in that release, current routines involving chain complexes and graded modules will be superseded by new functorial homological algebra routines in the Complexes package. Users and package developers are encouraged to preview the upcoming changes by adding HomologicalAlgebraPackage = "Complexes" to their initialization file and reporting any bugs via email or GitHub (
https://github.com/Macaulay2/M2/issues/3778). Note that this change has been delayed, as it was originally announced for the current release.
We are grateful to all the contributors who keep expanding the scope and performance of Macaulay2 via new packages and improvements to the existing code. You are welcome to submit pull requests at
https://github.com/Macaulay2/M2/pulls/.
Please let us know if you have any questions!
