Installing cygwin+Macaulay2 on windows 7

Hello,

 

I am following the instructions in http://www.math.uiuc.edu/Macaulay2/Downloads/Microsoft-Windows/Cygwin/index.html for installing Macaulay2 in windows, and during the installation of Cygwin I get the error message

“Unable to get setup.ini from <http:/macaulay2.com/Repositories/cygwin/>”

 

Does anyone know what could the problem be?

I've just made a change to the repository that might fix the problem.  Apparently

there was a change to the repository format to adapt to choosing

64 bit versus 32 bit versions.  Thanks to Pablo Parrilo for cluing me in.

Perhaps you are using http://cygwin.com/setup-x86_64.exe .  If so,

try http://cygwin.com/setup-x86.exe instead.

Okay, thanks.  I've modified our installation instructions to refer to that version

of the cygwin setup program.
