version 1.3 preparation underway

To prepare for version 1.3, we've made a copy of the "trunk" in our
source code repository. So, those of you who are developing packages
that are based in the repository can check in changes to the
repository without them finding their way into 1.3. If you do find a
change that has to go in, just let me know.

The URL of the 1.3 branch is

, in case anyone wants to see how it's going. We're updating the
libraries to their latest versions and replacing gmp by mpir.

I made a small (needed) change to the source code today to ensure that
hash codes of basics sorts of things, such as lists, strings, numbers,
and hashtables, remain the same in 1.3 as in 1.2.
