What happened to the old list?

If you are wondering what happened to the old list, read on.

The list was run on a server in my basement. I had to move (job loss) and
my new house does not have a basement, thus my data center (about 10
servers) all went away. I rented a single server in a real data center,
but the software I was using for hosting the lists, Mailman, does not work
well in a chroot environment. I refuse to run a non chrooted webserver
unless it is dedicated to the task and contains no other data. When I had
my own data center I could dedicate an old 486 machine to running the
list.

I had not thought to move the list to a group at Google (or similar), but
in my defense I had a lot of things on my mind, like basic survival, i.e.
keeping a roof over our heads and food on the table for my growing family.

With the recent changes going on at Sun, I've been getting inquires as to
what happened to the list. Now you know. With a bit of work I can
probably get the list of members from the old list and invite them, but
could take some time and I don't have a lot of free time these days.

Spread the word and let people know about the address. I tried for mac
dash users @ but that was taken already, so mac-...@googlegroups.com
was what I came up with.
