Can anyone recommend a good TMX editor for Yosemite that doesn't require me to download yet another Java installation?

I was very happy with Heartsome, but trying to use it on this machine brings up a message saying I'll have to install a different version of Java than the one I'm using to run CafeTran and I'm really tired of trying to manage Java installations.

I saw a tool on the AppStore called TMX Assistant that certainly sounds good, but it hasn't been updated since 2012 and the developer has not replied to any of my emails, so clearly not being supported.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Will

In the past I used Olifant.
Maybe this article can help: http://www.at-it-translator.com/tmx-editor-for-updatingcleaning-translation-memories/

I'm sorry, but I forgot that Olifant is for Windoze :-(
Maybe you could use TMX Assistant http://localworks.pl/tmxassistant/

Hi Sabina,

Thanks for your very fast reply.

Unfortunately, Olifant is a .Net app, so it won't run under OSX without installing a 3rd party package, which I'm wanting to avoid.

But I really appreciate you taking the time to suggest it.

All the best,

Will

Hi Will,

How about editing the TMX file directly in CafeTran? Just drag and drop the TMX file to the Project Dashboard and edit it in the usual workflow. See various TMX cleaning tasks in the Task menu too.

Cheers,
Igor

Hi Igor,

Ah, I seem to remember now Hans saying CT could do that.

I'll give it a try and see how I get on. Is there a KB article on how to do this?

Many thanks,

Will

Hi Sabina,

Yes, I was looking at that, but as it's not been updated since 2012 and the developer has not replied to any of my emails, it looks like it's no longer supported.

All the best,

Will

That one looks interesting. But I see no regex in Search/Replace ?!? Suspicious !

Also Stingray from Maxprograms looks like it can be used as a normal TMX editor. It really is an aligner but if you import a TMX you'll be able to edit it just as well. Even though it is a Java application, it does not seem to require any obsolete version. Am I correct Rodolfo ?

The article in the Knowlege Base should appear soon. Hans has created a video on it recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxvXYkpKkiQ&feature=youtu.be
