While these threads can be a bit naff, in this context it might be
useful to give a bit of an intro. Who are you? How long have you been
doing Mac development? Are you new to Mac or moving from iOS?

I'm Vero and funnily enough, I'm not a developer at all. I've been a
Mac user since the late 80's and converted my husband to Mac about 5
years ago. Since then, we've developed our own app (http://
alfredapp.com) He codes and I do the rest (community management,
marketing, support, etc)

The reason I see value in this group is that many people are working
on their own software or projects but don't have other Mac users to
swap ideas with. Hopefully this becomes a useful and friendly place
for this.

Well, that's enough waffle...

Hi!

My name's Sebastian Jachec, I'm sort of new to Mac. I switched from
Windows to Mac about 1 year ago, but now regard myself as a bit of a
power user. I never actually did any development 'til I got my Mac. I
started on AppleScript, AS-Obj-C and am now trying to do a bit of Obj-
C.

By the way, you've done a great job with Alfred! =)

I'm Chris Walters (w a l t e r s...@id.com is my non-mailing list address), I am an ex-NeXT developer (showing my age) and I've worked on a couple of Mac apps over the years. Recently, mostly iPhone/iOS... Currently in Basingstoke most of the time but also call Washington DC area home (US citizen)

I'm on twitter @chwalters, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.

Don't forget NSConference 2011 coming up, and come along to a Cocoaheads or NSCoderNight meetup sometime if you can (I try but don't always make it to the Swindon and London meetups).

Hi, I'm Nick. I'm currently in the process of picking up Obj-C and
Cocoa after spending most of my time developing in Ruby for the Web. I
currently have an iPhone app in the works, which is tentatively called
"What's Next?".

Mostly, though, I am a student at the University of Plymouth, studying
BSc (Hons) Computer Science.

And you can find me on Twitter as @nickcharlton, and on the web as:

Kind Regards,
Nick Charlton

Hi All,

I'm Will Jessop, I'm a sysadmin for 37signals and based in Manchester
in the UK. I've done iPhone and Mac dev on and off for a couple of
years now in my spare time, though only publicly released one thing (a
recycling group finder for iPhone: http://itunes.apple.com/app/finder/id352279226?mt=8)
I blog intermittently and on a range of subjects, but one post that
might interest people here was using ObjectiveResource from a native
OS X application: https://willj.net/2010/09/11/setting-custom-headers-with-objective-resource/

Though mostly a web developer I'm interested in Mac dev and a personal
project I'm starting soon will need a mac client.

Will.

Hey,

I'm Simon Maddox, and I'm a freelance mobile developer based in London.

I've had most success on iOS, and that's where the majority of my client projects are. I've built apps for some of the biggest brands in the world.

I started getting into Mac development over Christmas, and spent a day and a half building an OAuth client to meet my needs. Submitted it to the Mac App Store on New Years Day and it was approved a few days later, much to my surprise. So now I'm working on making it a bit better :)

Booked my ticket for NSConference yesterday, so look forward to meeting some of you there! :)

Cheers,

Simon

Howdy,

I'm Adam Wood. Mac dev is something I've been trying to find the time
to pick up for a while now. Still not quite there so hopefully will be
able to learn from this little group!

I run Donkey Internet part time, am a civil servant part time (please
feel sorry for me!). My only coding experience is with QBasic, Visual
Basic (both some time ago) and PHP.

Like Will the reason I've been wanting to learn is that a personal
project will need a Mac client. At least I'd like it to have one!

My name is Martin Hawkins and I work from home in Coggeshall, Essex.

I've been developing for a long while now; my first paid work was for
the Apple II ! Changes have been overwhelming at times.
I now do Ruby on Rails and MacRuby and Objective-C - I've just
finished doing some work on PeepOpen. I've been working in these areas
for about 3 years.

regards

I'm always looking for bright ideas to take forward.
