Hello All,
As most of you are likely aware, the Trump Administration is currently pursuing a plan to transform East Potomac Park (Hains Point) Into a championship golf course, thereby removing the picnic areas, historic cherry blossoms, and the roadway that many of us train on. MABRA has just submitted a formal request to the National Park Service to receive consulting party status for these proposed changes, which would obligate NPS to keep us informed of the planning. Any registered 501(c)3 is eligible to request consulting party status. Therefore, MABRA would like to invite each eligible club to consider reaching out to NPS to make the same request. Please see below for the point of contact and suggested language for your reach out. And of course, please pass this mesage on to any other eligible parties (such as running or triathlon clubs). Note that the consulting party meeting is set to occur August 20th, please make the request as soon as possible!
Sincerely,
The MABRA Board
