Specialized S-Works Transition (2006 frameset - aluminum + carbon fork). Frameset is pretty much as-new. Never crashed; only some transit-related bumps on components. 56cm, but also could work well for someone with a longer torso who usually rides a 54.
$800
Ultegra 6600 RD + brakes, 105 crankset + FD
Bontrager XXX Lite carbon brake levers
SRAM TT chainrings 55x42*
PRO Synop basebar + Easton AeroForce CNT TT bars (both newer than the rest of the bike)
Fizik Arione Tri saddle w/ Ti rails - has seen more use than the rest of the bike and shows it.
HED Disc tubular - early 2000s? Conti Competition with some life left - I'll say it could do with being reglued mostly just to cover my ass; it's on there now with Jantex tubular tape.
Includes a tired Shimano R500 front wheel mostly just so you can roll away.
Recabled last season w/ only one race since (and it won that race).
*A word on the gearing: The freehub on the disc wheel is an older Shimano type that was backwards-compatible with threaded sprockets (e.g. 8-speed Dura Ace), but as such can't take a modern 11t smallest cassette sprocket. So I put a 55t chainring on, which is pretty close in gearing to a 53-11. I'm reliably told (by HED customer service) that some quick work with a file would fix this pretty easily, but I never tried. And I can swap in 53-39 chainrings if you like.
Novelty coincidence: Behind it is a poster from the 2007 Tour de France Grand Depart in London - in which several Quickstep and Gerolsteiner riders rode this frame. Astana and Cofidis did not, and they got thrown off the Tour that year, so there you have it.
Also:
Easton Circuit wheels, rim tape & QRs included. $80
These have seen some abuse (rear has had two spokes replaced) but are doing well now. Freehub is in great shape.
