Greetings,
A simple note to let you know about more upcoming racing in the
Roanoke Valley.

Saturday, July 05, 2008
The Carilion Clinic HillClimb – This classic uphill time trial covers
1.87 miles & 900 ft. elevation gain. Named one of the top 10 races in
the Southeast by the Blue Ridge Outdoor magazine in 2007. Climb from
the valley floor of Roanoke to the famous Mill Mountain Star . Come
race the same route that Tour de France veterans such as Steve Bauer,
Brian Walton, and yes, a young Mountain Biker named, Floyd Landis have
ridden. Experience the pain and fun while competing for one of the
top 25 positions that will be eligible for a portion of the $1,500
purse + medals. If you are fast enough to break the course record of
8:24, you win a $500 bonus. Who knows maybe you will be one of the
adventurous ones that tackle this climb twice in one day.

While in Roanoke make sure you and especially the younger ones
experience the wonders of the Mill Mountain Discovery Center. Local
restaurants and ID3 Race partner restaurants like Blue 5 and the
Famous Texas Tavern are also close by. Use your race number coupon at
Blue 5 and while your enjoying the food stay for the music. If you
are into music check out the Free concerts and Music Festival . Take
part in all the excitement that the Carilion Clinic is offering by
sponsoring this classic event. More info @ www.id3races.com

While we were not able to secure a special rate for participants at
the local Hampton Inns. I would remind you that as a USCF member you
are eligible for discounted rates at all area Hampton Inns. The
discount link can be found on the back of your USF license or simply
go to http://cycling.hfadvantage.com and follow the instructions on
their website.
