I just saw that all 4 of my race bikes are no longer valid for Nationals.

This is frankly OUTRAGEOUS.

Do not have a silly little sticker on them and not from some major team.

This ruling should NOT apply to individual racers NOT part of an elite UCI pro team.

USA Cycling needs to walk this back and give exemptions. We need to protest this.

All those fancy bikes with that expensive sticker on them all have massive advantages over my trusty rides. It's not like the individual racers are gaining some sly advantage. Quite the opposite. And the roots of CX are individuals putting together a racer in their garage from parts they have salvaged off other machines.

When can we get a ruling on this?

This is a UCI rule and not a USA Cycling rule. It only applies to the UCI categories at nationals: elite, U23 junior. It does not apply to age group championships. The rule does apply to pan-ams for all participants because continental championships are UCI events, not USA Cycling events. So unless you are doing the pro race at nationals you will be fine. If you are going to enter that race you will need to have a frame set on UCI’s list.

As an aside, I’m sure USAC would love to not have this rule. It means less revenue for them. This is all on the UCI.

Same goes for CX maximum tire width of 33mm.
Racers were running 35mm in Paris-Roubaix.

I’d highly encourage people to push the UCI and USAC on rules that hamper the sport. The 33mm tire limit for UCI cyclocross racing has been in place since 2010–maybe it’s time to reevaluate? Requiring companies to get approval for bikes that may be ridden in UCI events? Potentially does more to generate compliance revenue than to improve racing safety (and definitely adds another frustration to the list of frustrations for promoters of events such as the PanAm championships).

I would also double-triple encourage people to actually read up on the things that they are complaining about before complaining. Discussing who made the rule, who it affects, and when it applies just makes for much more compelling complaining. We won’t ever get a ruling from USAC on the sticker rule, because (as Bill noted) it’s not USAC’s rule. We’re also unlikely to get the UCI to step away from the justification that approving frames (and wheels) makes the sport safer, but at least we’d be directing the discussion to the right place.

Also, the USCF ruined NORBA.

The UCI has been out of touch with <Recreational > racers for years.

Correct me if I'm wrong but USAC Nationals ( any and all) are sanction by the UCI.
I have attended many Masters Nats and all of these events riders had to have a UCI bike inspection.
Saw more then one very disappointed master rider male and female leave the inspection area in tears because their frame specs were off by one cm.

USAC  from what I know, just took a back seat to this when the UCI passed this rule a few years ago. They simply let it role out to take effect this year.
Yes, nats are excluded as USAC said.. remember the masters pan ams are in DC. Remember to race pan and,we all need  to spend $100 more on a UCI licence (a USAC scam) all UCI wants is  minimum insurance coverage but when we race in the US our domestic lic has insurance to cover us . Some of us are pushing for a 1 day UCI license to help the DC promoter get more entries)

But back to the frame nonsense - remember the pit bike needs to be stickers. So no dusting off an old bike or a beautiful new bike built by a small bike company that does not pay for UCI certification. We all should be witching and ask USAC to push back.

Time to make noise.
