It's finally here! It's Tidewater Winter Classic Eve and across the Mid-Atlantic, hundreds of racers are busy cleaning their bikes and packing their bags for tomorrow's kick-off to road season! The excitement is palpable. Or maybe that's my heart condition...
A few quick notes for those coming to Williamsburg.
- Trek Bicycle, sponsor and provider of loads of prizes and swag, will have a hospitality tent set up with coffee and food. Make sure you stop by and say hi!
- The park opens at 7AM.
- Parking in York River State Park is not free. It costs $5, and the park asks that you please bring cash.
- New chipseal was put down several months ago with hope that traffic would pack it down and/or push the loose gravel off the side of the road. That didn't happen. So there will be a neutral rollout to Riverview Rd, as always, but the finish will also be on Riverview Rd. prior to the park's entrance.
- The folks at KOA Campground have asked that no one spectates or parks on their property as they're conducting off-season rehab and construction. Spectators should find a place that's not on their property and not on the race course to park.
- Centerline rule will be in effect.
- Tipping your officials is not a bribe if you do it after the race.
The Men's Cat 4/Novice field is full and has a waiting list as long as my sprint. But all the other fields are open, so if you didn't register, it is not too late. Registration at
bikereg.com/tidewater-winter-class will be open until just before your race's start.
See you in Williamsburg!
