Maaslin input file: Are negative taxa values possible?

Dear Galaxy Team,

I have a question regarding the Maaslin input file. 

For my project I am interested in the change of abundance of bacterial taxa and the change in several metabolic markers between a treatment time point and a baseline value. I saw on the Maaslin web page, that the microbial measurements are expected to range between 0 and 1. Now, due to my treatments, I have a decrease in some taxa and metabolic markers,so I have several negative values. I don't get an error message when I upload a file with several negative values and do get an output file without error messages. But I don't know if these negative values are being recognized or ignored by the program.
