How to specify the data type like promethus

Hi, there:

If I use this API to write the metrics to m3db and then use prometheus to read the metrics remotely, how do I specify the data type of the metrics, such as Counter in prometheus?

datapoints are lower level than Prometheus types. it is the way of storing multiple data points that makes its type.

like increasing values --> Counter

increasing/decreasing --> Gauge

buckets mentioned in tags + count + total --> histogram etc
