Hi all,

Sally got the details – see below.

I will order  the flowers     and get them  delivered for 10:00 at Gill’s house.

I propose a nice spray or sheaf (mostly white?) with the following words “ To our dear friend Gill – from the guitar group “

(Probably a fiver each –  I have counted 11 of us: David, Carolyn, Barry, Sally, Dana, Mark, Garrie, Martin, Emily, Mohie and me)

Hope everyone is happy with this, or let me know.

Thanks, Michel.

Here are the details for Gill's funeral. I'm sure lots of people will want to come.

The funeral will take place at Friday 2nd March 12:00 at North East Surrey Crematorium (http://www.nes-crematorium.org.uk/)  People can either come to our house for 11.30/ 11.40 and follow the hearse or just go straight to the crematorium.  Then back to the house for eats and drinks.

Hi everyone,

Prompted by Barry, I'm wondering who is planning to go to the funeral and what would be "right" (if that's the aim)?  Many of us shared Mohie's classes with Gill for years, and also played in the ensemble at other places as well - Wimbledon Common Fair, the Garden Party ... Sally's Dylan's christening party!  But we (or at least I) don't know the family.  Would they welcome the support or would we be a surprise / unsettling?  I will be home at that time and can go but I'd like to know who from our group is planning to go and what we might do to mark it in our own way?

Mark

Hello Mark,

I am considering attending but have been thinking the same thing: how appropriate it would be for us/me to attend as, like you, I don't know the family.
Perhaps it would be better for us to show our respects in our own way rather than attending and feeling uncomfortable?

Garrie

Normally the family do not mind attendance to the service.

I believe It would be a liberty to attend any family gathering afterwards

Sally is closest to the family, could you ask where there would be any objection to any of us attending the service.

Its always difficult at these times knowing what to do.

Hello everyone,

Sally here. I just wanted to say that I know everyone would be welcome at Gill's funeral if you want to come. Equally, please don't feel you have to come either.

If you'd rather say goodbye in a different way then that's fine. Does anyone have anything in mind? Perhaps a workshop or event in her memory?

I'll be going to the funeral, but then I'm in a slightly different category as I have got to know Gill's family.

Have a think what you'd like to do.  Perhaps if a few people wanted to attend the funeral then we can arrange it so you all travel togther. Perhaps we could also arrange something for the guitar group.

Please do whatever you feel comfortable with.

Sal x

Hi all

I agree that we should not go back to the house as we don't know the family ad would not want to intrude upon someones private grief,
but Sally will be kindly represent us.

May I make a suggestion, if you think this suitable, those of us not going to the house, could raise a class in her memory at what was once
called The Beverely Pub - which is just opposite the crematorium (the other side of the roundabout. (Can't remember the new name)
Hermione & I attended a wake there yesterday for our friend and neighbour and the pub certainly seems to have improved now it has been
renovated. Will see you on Thurs.
Regards
David

Dear all,

I, too, will be going to the crematorium for the funeral and then join the group at the pub afterwards. After doing a search, I think the pub is now called The Morden Brook (http://www.pub-explorer.com/gtlondon/pub/beverleymorden.htm)
Would it be an idea for us to meet at the pub before the funeral so we can arrive at the funeral together?

Good idea Garrie.  Shall we aim to meet at 1130 at the Morden Brook, leaving comfortable time to walk to the crematorium in advance of 1200?
