I see from birth printouts I just received, these two Fairbrass births
in the district of Wellington, New Zealand:

No.: 248
When Born:19th April 1849
Name, if any: Mary Anne
Sex: Female
Name and surname of father: Thomas Fairbrass
Name and maiden surname of mother: Ann Fairbrass formerly Russell
Rank or profession of father: Labourer
Sisnature, description and residence of informant: The mark of Thomas
Fairbrass the father Porirua Road
When registered: 11 May 1849

No.: 128
When Born:July 3 1851
Name, if any:
Sex: Female
Name and surname of father: Thomas Fairbrass
Name and maiden surname of mother: Ann Fairbrass formerly Russell
Rank or profession of father: Farmer [another unreadable word is
underneath]
Sisnature, description and residence of informant: The mark of Thomas
Fairbrass
When registered: July 10th 1851

I can email you scanned copies if you would like.

Mary Anne Fairbrass seems to have died on the Porirua Poad aged 5
years and was buried on 6 September 1854, according to the register of
St. Paul’s Church Molesworth Street. Note that the date of her burial
has been wrongly transcribed as 1954.

Burial Register 1840 to 1866. St. Pauls Church Molesworth St,
Thorndon. Transcribed by Dave and Wendy. At:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~babznz/burials.html.
Last accessed 9 November 2010.

I think the 1851 birth is possibly that of Susanna Florence Fairbrass.
Any opinions?

Lynda, great idea to host a forum - thanks indeed.

Best wishes,
Sheryl

Hi Sheryl

I think you're correct - that 1851 birth would be Susanna as I have
her parents as Thomas & Ann FAIRBRASS and her birth ca 1850. I would
love copies of what you have, thank you. My email address is
lyd...@gmail.com

I will now update the Fairbrass page.

Thanks too for your comments re this forum. I get emails all the time
from people who've come across my site and they're usually related
somehow. Until recently the information went only between the two of
us, then I thought it would be better to share it, especially regards
others with the same links. That's the general idea anyway.

Thanks again, and welcome to the group.

Cheers, Lynda

Hi Sheryl
I received this below email, and I was wondering what information
overly r u still
requiring. I am connected to this Fairbrass people by marriage, as
Susanna married
one of my ancestors Thomas Henry Wilmshurst, I do hold a small amount
of information,
but not knowing exactly what u are after.
Please feel free to email to myself and I will help where I can.

Thanks Gloria

Hi Gloria,
I'm just trying to clarify the early Fairbrass births in NZ, as I
simply didn't have a date of birth for our joint predecessor, Susanna
Florence. If we are all agreed that her year of birth was 1851, then I
think we can safely say 3 July is indeed her date of birth.

I'm descended fron TH and Susan Wilmshurst via a daughter, Laura
Louisa (she was actually registered as Gloria Louisa) Wilmshurst. She
married Frederick Percy Hannah. I have quite a bit of information
about my line, if you're interested.

I'd love to hear how you are descended from TH and Susan Wilmshurst!
Why don't you email me directly.

My email is mahiafi...@gmail.com

Cheers, Sheryl

HI - I would love to see the scanned copies of the above info. My hubby is a descendant of Frederick Benjamin Taylor and Elizabeth Mary Fairbrass Reeve. Elizabeths mother was Mary Fairbrass who was a sister to the Thomas Fairbrass you mention. The pic I have attached is of Elizabeth and her husband Frederick Benjamin Taylor.
Thanks Aroha
