Hi Lynda - Not been in touch for a while but I have just managed to trace my Gt.Aunt. Margaret Alice Maclean. She was my Grandfather James Maclean's youngest Sister. Her Father was Alexander Maclean Builder & Carpenter and Mother Elizabeth Black from Nairn.

I have been looking for her for many years and decided to look on Ancestry and the ships passenger lists and there she was.

She called herself Alice Maclean on the 1901 Scottish Census and also Alice is the name on the ship passesnger list. She was aged 26 and a Teacher from Nairn.

It said she was goig to Innisfail. This was in 1906. This is where Grandfather headed too, but he must have come back as he was in the RAMC during WW1.

I have no idea where to look for information on her really as I found her Sister Mary Maclean travelling to Canada in 1920 & 1922 and on the form it read her Father's name and address and she put down she was going to stay with her Sister Mrs Palmer and a box number in Kelowna, Lake K?, if that is correct. I have had someone look for me in Canada but they cannot find anything in their records to where Alice went from there. On the record for Mary it also said Novia Scotia.

Mary also travelled to New York from there she went to stay with her Sister again apparently to the ships list. I know Mary travelled a lot with her Brother William after his Wife Agnes died, but they both came back as they died in Edinburgh.

I also found a photo of another relative, which I will copy and email to you. It is three years since I went to Scotland again and whilst there I managed to find a newspaper article for a McQueen who was a Carpenter and his Wife. It was a golden wedding anniversry piece put in their local paper. I have to look back on the lineage to just place them for you.

Do you know where I could look for anything further on Alice Maclean, as I am completely lost but happy that I found her going to Canada.
