I am very impressed with your site and the veracity of it. I have spent 2 days researching for a friend and it has taken this long to get to your site, but it has confirmed what I thought about the "junk" surrounding some of the Gear/Levy heritage.

My friend is Dennis Gear of Gisborne who along with his brother Rikki are the grandsons of Sarah Levy, their father being the one adopted by the cousin once removed. You may know of Rikki's sons who are the All Blacks Rico and Hosea Gear.

Dennis understands his Father's biological Father was of Maori / Spanish extraction hence Rikkis progeny showing Spanish type names. I wonder if you have any information on this?

I can also update you on all of Raymond Levy Gear's (Sarah's Child) progeny if you wish. I can check but feel quite sure that Dennis and the family are not worried about their father being shown as Private in your tree.

re your curiosity about how and why - I lived in Gisborne for 6 years but have returned to the UK. I am in contact with Dennis at least once per week by phone and more often by email.
