I get the same error when launching ED Horizons, i have chosen the actual elitedangerous64.exe rather than the launcher for infinite screen to use. Glad you guys are looking into it.
This piece of tech blows my mind, great work developing it so far, my daughter wants to be able to use it for minecraft!
Patches used to take minutes. Now they take hours. I have a 155 Mbps download speed. The patch is downloading at 5 KBps. This has been happening for the last few patches. I have googled the issue and tried all of the solutions provided (turn off IPv6, disable multi-threaded rendering and Launcher GPU acceleration in the launcher) and still 5 KBps. What else can I do to fix this?
I have a 300 mb/s fibre optic connection. I can download a 25 GB game off of steam in less than 10 minutes flat. Yet when I do ANY patch from the Warframe launcher (note: Warframe is installed directly from their website, not through Steam), I am often downloading at a measely 2 mb/s at most. It can take the same amount of time as a 25 GB game, sometimes longer.
I have weirdly inconsistent speeds for 4 of my warframe installs, 1 went at normal 8mb/s(ish), 3 of them varied from 30k/s to 80k/s, gotta admit this is the first time ive had a speed issue with the launcher since 2013 till now.
Necroposting but I think I found the solution for people that only uses windows anti-virus, uncheck Bulk download and Agressive download options in the launcher. If the error presents again try checking those options again. At least that fixes the error for me every time it presents, just altern between checking and unchecking those options until its back to your regular download speed.
Looking over various reports, many people are mentioning that the launcher update has broken all three for them on Steam Deck. Confusing though, as testing all three across desktop Linux and Steam Deck and all three worked out of the box for me with Proton 7.0-4 and no other changes and I wasn't even shown a launcher on Steam Deck. All good, until I tried running them again on desktop and sometimes the launcher just doesn't show up so they don't run. Frustrating.
Thankfully, the community has stepped in to provide multiple workarounds for these games if the launcher has broken them for you. If you add these as a launch option (under Properties for each game) it should work for all titles across desktop Linux and Steam Deck to skip the launcher and I've tested them personally working:
There's been a lot of unhappy gamers on Windows too, so 2K have a bit of a storm brewing with all three titles getting negative reviews on Steam. Hopefully they will learn from this. It's just another reminder of the problem with launchers and publishers just stuffing them into games with no real benefit to users.
