We are pleased to announce that the new NIH COVID-19 website launched last week. The site provides a central location for trusted, up-to-date, accurate information about NIH research and our strategic role in COVID-19 research. The site complements information made available on our COVID-19: Information for NIH Applicants and Recipients of NIH Funding webpage.
I will be revamping thelisetteproject.org next summer by adding several short articles about Haitian classical music composers and performers. I would like the help of a research assistant to both research music history and write/co-write short articles for the website. The student would also help me upload data to the African Diaspora Music Project website.
Students would do research both online and in the music library. They would prepare notes for articles which they would either then write or cowrite with me. If the student is also a performer, I would also entertain the possibility of them learning repertoire. The student would also help me gather data to input entries into the African Diaspora Music Project website.
The nexus test is confusing, out-of-touch with the times, and should be abandoned. If courts insist on keeping the nexus test, however, they should be more liberal in applying it. In particular, the nexus test should not be limited to inaccessible features on a website that impede access to a physical place of public accommodation because the ADA prohibits more than just eligibility criteria and screening processes. As long as a plaintiff can show that some inaccessible features of a website interfered with their ability to take advantage of the goods and services (or other benefits) of a place of public accommodation, the nexus test is met.
The nexus test is a legal requirement under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) used by most of the courts in this country. Because it arises in Title III of the ADA, it only affects private sector organizations and has no effect on public sector organizations.
Some other circuits are internally split between these two approaches. For instance, depending on which judge you end up facing, federal courts in the Second Circuit (Connecticut, Vermont, and New York) sometimes follow a strict nexus approach (see, e.g. Winegard v. Newsday LLC, 2021 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 153995; 2021 WL 3617522 (E.D.N.Y. 2021)) or sometimes follow the more liberal approach (see, e.g.Jaquez v. Dermpoint, Inc., 2021 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 96067 (S.D.N.Y. 2021)). This point is important to remember because New York is another favorite venue for bringing web accessibility lawsuits.
Of course, this split between the circuits (and within some circuits like the Second Circuit) creates enormous confusion for American businesses. Because websites enable modern companies to maintain customers across the country, they become susceptible to litigation (and these different approaches) from anywhere. For instance, about two years ago, I described what happened to Sportswear, Inc., a Seattle-based company that could not be sued where they were located for their inaccessible website but ended up defending an ADA lawsuit from across the country. The confusion created by being susceptible to lawsuits from jurisdictions apply or don't apply the nexus test is the subject of a different post. This post describes why the nexus test itself is still unpredictable and needs to either be abandoned or clarified.
In the Langer case, Chris Langer visited the website of Antioch Speedway to look for information about car racing but could not understand the videos on the site because the videos were not captioned. Because Mr. Langer could not show that he was deterred from physically visiting the speedway, the court held that he did not allege a clear nexus between barriers on the website and a physical place of public accommodation.
HVAC Manufacturer Implements Nexus to Deliver Multi-Website Redesign
A market leading international manufacturer of HVAC equipment in Germany was challenged with redesigning their online presence. Their more than 80 websites needed to be consolidated, redesigned, and implemented on a new CMS.
Under Virginia's economic nexus law, having a physical presence in Virginia is not a prerequisite for having to collect Virginia sales and use tax. A remote seller or marketplace facilitator has economic nexus if they sell or facilitate the sale of more than $100,000 in annual gross retail sales or 200 or more transactions to Virginia customers.

By default Nexus is the internal repository used by CA Release Automation. If you remove it then it will not work properly. Please make sure that you change your conf/nolio-repo.properties file to point to your repository server before doing anything. After you've confirmed that RA is properly using the expected repository I'd recommend stopping and backing up the entire install folder. Then you can likely move the nexus.war and webapp/nexus folder. This should prevent tomcat from loading the application when you restart the Nolio Automation Server service. However, none of this has been officially and is therefore unsupported.
There is more to it than just the nexus.war in /webapps. There is also a /sonatype-work folder used to store the artifacts of the nexus repository. I *think* that the webapp does more than just provide UI functionality since there are no additional nexus processes that I'm aware of for handling artifacts.
IMHO I don't think you would gain much (performance cpu/memory wise) by stopping nexus. Since it hasn't been officially tested and supported it is probably better to leave it as is and just point the Management Server to a different repository server if necessary.
Addition to the information on this thread, if security is a concern you can modify the default nexus repository password and same modification need to be done at conf/nolio-repo.properties file with encrypted password.
Instead of blocking the URL I will prefer to block the anonymous access to the nexus which is allowed by default. You can try this locate the section in file \sonatype-work\nexus\conf\security.xml and comment it and restart the server
The Vermont legislature passed the click through nexus advertising law in 2011. Because the Vermont law was contingent on 16 other states passing similar laws, it did not become effective until Oct. 13, 2015. Online retailers were required to collect and remit Vermont sales tax beginning December 1, 2015.
