I have an LX9070 with no built-in FLARM. I also have a FLARM Fusion that is connected to the LX9070. The FLARM Fusion currently is running firmware version 7.21 (I will get updated to 7.22 soon but that's not the subject here). Whenever I start my LX9070 and it connects to LXNAV Connect, the LX9070 tells me that FLARM firmware version 7.22 is available and asks if I would like to update. If I respond "yes", then it displays an error message saying that the firmware file is not valid. My understanding is that the LX9070 can update the firmware of a built-in FLARM, but cannot update the firmware of an external FLARM.

My LX9070 knows that my FLARM is external, not internal, so I don't understand why it keeps asking me to do this update that it already knows is doomed to fail. This is the second glider I've had this problem with. Are other people with LX9xxx plus external FLARM having this issue?

Thanks

Seems like the same reason it offers to update the terrain obstacle database every time you connect to wifi even though that doesn't apply here in the states.

Mine's the same, it seems impossible to update an external flarm via the LX.

I update my powerflarm core via it's USB port and never had an issue.

Hi,

The LX90x0 can't update an external FLARM.  That's not possible.

My LX9000 is also connected to my external PowerFLARM Fusion.  The LX9000 often asks me if I want to update my FLARM, but that only applies to LX9000 units with built-in FLARM modules. It is a bummer that the message isn't clear.  I need to hit "Later" every day.  It is annoying, but it is what it is.  Most of the world uses LX9000 units with built-in FLARM modules, but we don't do that here in the USA.

I believe if you hit “No” instead of “Later”, it will stop asking.

I was sure I had updated an external FLARM from an LX before - and it looks like from the manual that it is (was?) in fact possible, but only for original FLARM's, not PowerFLARM's.
p242: "External FLARM modules can be also updated via the LX system. PowerFLARM modules cannot be updated through LX systems."
Why it regardless insists on attempting to update something it should know it can't, I have no idea...

I've seen this issue each time the internal and external FLARM version numbers are not in sync.  For what it is worth, I filed the report below with LxNav.  Uros responded and agrees there is a bug.

I am seeing FLARM update messages on every bootup even though I have an external FLARM Fusion and external FLARM updates through the LX9070 are not possible.
I believe we see this issue when the the internal FLARM firmware version is not in sync with the external FLARM firmware version. Currently, the internal version is 7.23 and the
external version 7.22 (for my Fusion). Once the external version increments to 7.23 (and we update the external unit), I believe the update requests will stop (unless the internal version number is also bumped and stays out of sync).

My assumptions:
1) LX is correctly reading the external FLARM firmware version but incorrectly comparing it to the latest internal version number to see if it is current.
2) LX attempts to update the internal FLARM when none exists and generates an error if the user accepts the update process. .

The LX SW should recognize that no internal FLARM is present and an external FLARM is being used. It should compare the external FLARM firmware version to correct one that is current. If it is not current, it should simply advise the user to perform a separate update and be dismissed. (Alternatively, determine if updating an external FLARM is possible and worth the development effort).

I have PowerFlarm Core, LX9070 and TrafficView hardware. The Flarm firmware update status indications are confusing and unhelpful:

The PowerFlarm Core (as reported on the TrafficView) is currently at 7.21

The notification presented on the LX9070 claims 7.23 is available

The firmware update available as shown on the firmware download page is 7.22 (7.23 is not shown as available for ANY flavor of FLARM)

Not a particularly bad bug, but dismissing the “New Version available” notice on power-up every time has persisted for a long time and is misleading.

I am experiencing the same issues using an external FLARM Fusion and the LXNav 9050.

I'm running Beta 9.20c - latest release and still get asked if I want to update or ignore the obstacle database when my device connects to wifi for the first time each day.

I also unchecked 'Notify on new updates' in the Setup_Harware_Flarm menu on my 9000
