Has anyone experience their LXNAV V7/S7 shutting off?

My LXNAV V7/S7 occasionally shuts off at the beginning of the flight. I will power it back on and it will stay on for the rest of the flight, and sometimes it will stay on for awhile and shut off again. This problems only occurs at the beginning of the flight.

My LXNAV V7/S7 is currently on it's way back to the factory.

Update
I received my LXNAV V7/S7 back from the factory, I haven't flown with it yet to see if the repair resolved the issue.

LXNAV Remarks: v7 needs hardware modifications to prevent shuts-down sensor box.

Yes this happened to me twice last week.

I was at the Minden Nationals last week and my Lx9000 did this twice.  This has never happened before and I got the glider in early 2016 brand new.

The first time this happened was in the start thermal prior to the start for the day.  I was thermaling, looked at the screen and it was black.  The V8 vario was still going which I found strange.  I waited for probably 5+ minutes until I was at the top of the thermal and then decided to try and hold down the power button on the Lx9000.  After about 5-10 seconds the start up screens flashed and it went through normal startup procedure and fortunately the task was still loaded.

The 2nd time this happened was 1 day later while on the ground and entering the task for the day.  It just went black again.  I turned of the main battery switch, waited and it came back on when I re-powered it up.

I contacted LXNav and they said to disable the HGL maps because it may be short of memory.....???  That seemed a bit odd, because I haven't changed anything relative to map settings or maps being used in the last 3+ years.

I am skeptical of the reliability on the Lx9000 right now, and suspect it is something to do with a recent update.  I've experienced too many times in the last couple of years with updates, changes that LX insist don't happen.  I am really disappointed because generally I love flying with the LX9000 but my experience in Minden made me realize how reliant I am on the unit for basically everything relative to navigation, airports, tasks, etc.

if anyone else experiences the black screen, please let's urge LXNav to dig into this more and introduce a fix.

This happened to me few times in the past as well (so not related to recent upgrades). Actually wasn’t completely blank but had color stripes and the screen became unreadable. Richard from Craggy replaced my screen and it fixed the issue, but then last year it happened again couple of times, and went completely blank. Didn’t happen since. The good news is that restarting the device by pressing the power button for few long seconds fixed the issue each time.
BTW I always use XCSoar on my Samsung Galaxy as backup/supplemental display.
