I have forwarded this to the public goods team.

I don't think I can personally commit to do this right now. I don't have web development skills or familiarity with the LW codebase or much time (which makes me reluctant to dive into the code). However, I am trying to get information about putting together an introduction to the LW codebase (listing the  frameworks/tools lw uses and how it's organized) ( as Max Kesing suggested), which should make it easier to work on this.

Hi John,

I have a perfect project for your LW Public Goods group, now that the Less Wrong Virtual Box has been created!

Here's what I proposed to Eliezer, and he agreed we should try:

> I think we should put a Facebook 'Like' button just to the left up the up-down voting buttons where people are used to clicking vote-up or vote-down, so that people will almost automatically click on the Facebook 'like' button.

Trike Apps can't code anything new for Less Wrong at the moment, so we'd need to engage volunteers to do it.

We tried AddThis before, but Kevin Fischer pointed out that AddThis always does poorly. He remembers reading some data suggesting that giving users a single option (e.g. Facebook 'Like') is much superior.

Can we get somebody on your LW Public Goods team could do this? It seems like a relatively simple 'intro' hack that could get somebody starting to do useful things with the Less Wrong Virtualbox.

I'm not sure if I understand the point of a like button.

Is it supposed to integrate with facebook's like?

That's correct, just like on lots of other sites.

Adding that link increased my expectancy about this.

I'd much prefer a G+ "+1" button.

Is there were a way to do this with the affordance of a single button and the flexability of a bunch of buttons?
