This is the place to ask, though I only develop 1D games ( Dot,  Dot 2, and Dot 3: point of no return.)  :-)

I've been in game modding for the last 6 years, mostly in the space
combat sim genre.

Be glad to help you with whatever I can.

Have any further details on what you're wanting to do?

I have been learning the past couple of years creating games from the ground up with Unity's game engine. I have legit android and ios license with Unity Pro. I have taken and publish a couple of asset packages and have done well but I am at a point wanting to go further and actually create a full game. Was just curious really how many others in the area might be into game developing or have wanted to be in developing. I am just at a planning stage besides some Unity scripts that I have wrote that I know will be needed. This link is a demo of the scripts I have working. They are very versatile but for the demo I attached them in a sorta 3d rpg / platformer scenario. The level layout and such is just thrown together to test with. The demo uses Unity's webplayer so will have to be installed to play it and this is not a complete level just a demo of a idea for the scripts more or less. I would love to get a group of people together to actually create a game or just share thoughts and such.

Well there are a great quantity of gamers in the local area.
I've had contact with some of the folks with LanWar and the
GamingUtopia store, might be one way to
sort of stick a bug in folks ear's if you wanted to make a actual game
developers group.

Don't have direct experience with Unity, know of it, browsed it's
feature set back years ago when it was young.
Wouldn't mind chatting and getting to know more about what it's
capable of doing from an inside perspective.

Do have an interest in Android development, have a Nexus 7 on the way
so I can start messing with Jelly Bean.

I'm not a coder, unfortunately... I'm more on the artsy end of things
with Photoshop, textures, planning, and designing things.
I've got a team of about 3 to 10 guys (give or take) that have been
working with me on my mod project.
I'm currently working on trying to get time to get back into 3D
modeling again.

Yea when I start something will be developing for Android, Windows, and when Unity 4 releases later this year will also develop for Linux. Unity has matured a lot in the past couple of years. It is capable of putting out anything your imagination can come up with. Also what I like about it is build once and deploy everywhere(besides maybe control scripting for touch and shaders for mobile). I have been using it since version 2 and it has really come along ways since then. I mostly write in Unityscript (js). The indie/ free version of Unity is all one really needs since you can use plugins and such, but for the better batching and such pro is awesome. There a lot of tutorials and the api is well documented also.

I didn't know about lanwar and GamingUtopia till just googled it, yea might be away to set a bug.

The next Ludum Dare 48-hour friendly game development competition is
August 24th:

Much pressure, much fun. Focus on completion. Unity's a good way to
get productive quickly.

This FAP is to purchase two 60 to 70 Pt dehumidifiers not to exceed $600 for the two units including sales tax.

There are plenty of models in the $250 - $270 range. Research shows most are about the same. Since we need these units quickly I am suggesting they be purchased locally at Home Depot, Lowes, Sears or any store that would stock two of these units. One unit to be put in the bone yard and one in the undead zone.

Units to have the following specifications
Low temperature operation
Continuous drain operation (use a hose to drain unit - no bucket to empty)
Humidity level control
Auto defrost or something to keep the unit from freezing up

Unit that meet these qualifications are

Since these are commodity units, brand does not matter. Anyway having been a production manager at a satellite receiver manufacture, where the first step was to put one of the various name plates of the brands we made, I would suspect that most of these or at least the internal components come from the same factories.

Joe,

FAPs should go to the member's list to avoid confusion with folks that can't vote in the process, and so the FAP Elf can monitor the progress of the FAP.  FAP looks good, just needs reposted to the member's list.

So Travis, would you like to get a meeting together over the weekend
or something?
Maybe just a small group, talk about whatever to begin with.

Well discussion requires people... what times are people available the
most?

Myself? Saturday or later afternoon Sundays.
Sat's are kinda mixed as I sometimes have things between 3 and 5.

Guess if LVL1 is the location, we'd need an actual member present as
there
are some rules there.

I would be interested in a regular game-development discussion group/meetup as well.  I've just gotten started picking up game development so tossing around ideas with people with different engine, framework, and platform experience sounds great.

After posting around on a few forums and such seems the handful that replied here are the only ones interested at the moment. We can all post days best for each of us or I can setup a voice server (Teamspeak, Ventrilo, ect) which ever is best for you guys. My schedule I can work in meetings on any day as long as I know ahead of time. This weekend have a family reunion but after this weekend any day works for me.

If it works for you guys, I'd suggest coming to a Tuesday night
meeting (at least to start). You'll be able to see the space, meet
folks, find some interested members, and work out a regular meeting
date that may be more optimal for everyone.

Yup, every Tuesday at 8pm we have an open meeting, generally around 20-30 minutes, and then "social hour" wherein people can talk and gather in groups to discuss various projects informally.

You won't regret it; LVL1 is a fantastic place and there's much coolness to learn and observe.

As much as I do like the open meetings, I'm unable to make it then
due to work. I work 1 to midnight all days but Wednesday, Sat, Sun.

Wednesday afternoon / evenings are usually taken up regularly.

But don't hold it up on my account. I also have a GSC server if you
want a voice chat system.
Doesn't cost anything.
