	Tonight: A hands-on workshop on Git, the version control system that everyone who works with computers should be using. It's not just for programmers anymore. Writers, web designers, anyone who needs to keep a record of the versions of their work should know it and be using it.
	In an effort to get attendees more involved in meetings, Alan Blount and Jeff Squyres will be teaching the basics of git in a workshop at the October 10 KYOSS meeting. Rather than just watching us talk about git, the workshop will be hands-on. In order to participate, please: Bring a laptop to the meeting. Free wifi is provided at LVL1. Signup for a github.com account before the meeting. You don't have to know anything about Github; just sign up for an account before the meeting. Git (http://git-scm.com/) is a distributed version control system (don't worry: we'll cover what all those words mean in the workshop :-) ). It's pretty awesome, and is fully open source. Git is used by Linus Torvalds to maintain and develop the Linux kernel source code. But git can be (and is) used for much smaller projects, too. This tutorial will cover the basics of Git. If it goes well, we might do a more advanced tutorial at a future meeting.
