Happy Friday everyone! Remember to stop by *tonight* for Movie Night and the
annual White Elephant Hackathon! Bring parts from a former project, or any
other parts that could be turned into a project, nominally wrapped up (i.e.,
tossed into a bag or box), and be here by 8:00 PM! We will exchange parts
according to the White Elephant gift exchange rules, then you get to make a
project that uses the parts you received! You can work by yourself or in a
team, but you must be back here at 8:00 PM Saturday to present your project
and judge your peers.
Rules for tonight's variant of the White Elephant gift exchange:
1. The order of selecting items will be by random numbered drawing.
2. When it is your turn, you choose to *either* open a new item, or steal
one.
3. Each item may only be stolen once per turn.
4. There may be at most 3 steals per turn.
5. An given item may be stolen at most 3 times.
6. A given person may only be stolen from up to 3 times.
7. Stealing the same item back is allowed.
8. At the end, the person who went first has the option to swap with any item
that is still eligible for stealing; this continues until someone chooses
not to swap.
Just for fun, prizes are also awarded by White Elephant gift exchange rules,
but the rules are adjusted to favor the winners:
1. Item selection will be in order from last place to first place.
2. When it is your turn, you choose to *either* open a new item, or steal
one.
3. Each item may only be stolen once per turn.
4. There is no per-turn limit to the number of items that may be stolen.
5. There is no limit to the number of times a given item may be stolen.
6. There is no limit to the number of times a person may be stolen from.
7. You cannot steal back an item that was previously stolen from you.
8. There is no final option to swap at the end.
So come out and enjoy some movies and some hacking,
and may the odds be ever in your favor!
