I've been trying to get myself together enough to do a beekeeping class.  I would like to gauge interest.  I'm planning on a 30-45 minute talk and 30 to whenever-you-get-tired minutes putting together frames.  No charge but I will use the fruits of your labor in my hives.

1) So, are you interested in a beekeeping class *sometime*.
2) We are running out of weekends. Is Wednesday evening (5/29) OK?

I'm definitely interested, but I'm 50/50 on 5/29.

Galen Powers was a professional beekeeper for about 20 years.  His dad had a large scale operation in California.  I can't get enough of of his beekeeping stories.  He even knows how to make a queen.

I think one of the coolest things, is that once you have extracted the honey, and you have all this stainless with sticky, gooey stuff everywhere, to clean it up you just leave it near the hive and the bees clean it up for you in a day!

I use a Kenyan style top bar hive, and a modified Warre hive. I'm
personally not really interested in learning about the Langsroth hive; too
many special tools and techniques optimized for professional beekeeping,
IMHO.

Anyway, I'll just leave this here...

Chreighton,

I'm a long time member of Kentuckianna beekeepers.  Maybe we have seen each other there?

Perhaps, but I don't go to the meetings very often, due to work scheduling
conflicts. Nor have I been a member very long.

OK, the beekeeping class is Wednesday May 29th at 7:00pm.  Brad is going to set up an EventBrite.

The time depends on how many questions there are and how much interest people have. Let's say 2 hours max.  This will be a slide show followed by a workshop.  I'll try to address all of the pitfalls I have run into putting these things together.
