CNC Project

Hi lvl1,

I have an acquaintance who has a woodworking pattern that he wants to use a CNC to produce. I haven’t the slightest idea where to even start with that project or where to even turn for resources. Since I know lvl1 has a nice woodworking shop including some CNC machines, I turn to the wisdom of the mailing list.

Can one of y’all help point me to some resources? Or I believe he’d be willing to hire someone to assist with the project too but I know so little I couldn’t even ballpark how much it might run for the help. Anyone interested in taking on such a project?

Hey Chris;

We have a Shopbot PRS alpha and it uses Vectric Vcarve Pro  to make CNC Toolpaths.  A quick browse of Shopbot and Vecttic sites wouldn't hurt. The best path would be to come to our Tuesday night meeting (8-9PM) to mingle and ask questions. In all likelihood you'll get the answers needed to move forward.
