Just thought I would pass this off to everyone so we have a context of what the process or a world record will look like. Ill read it later today when I have time.

Dear Mr Joshua Wilcox,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding your intention to attempt the record for ‘Worlds Largest Cotton Candy Machine'.

Your proposal is very similar to an existing record that we monitor and so the category that Guinness World Records currently recognizes is: ’Longest candyfloss (cotton candy)’.

The current record (current as at the date of this letter) is:
The longest candyfloss (cotton candy) measures 1,400 m (4,593 ft 2 in) and was achieved by Kocaeli Fuar Müdürlügü in Izmit, Kocaeli, Turkey, on 10 July 2009.

This is the current record, as of today, but records are being attempted and achieved every day! If the above record is broken before your attempt date, Guinness World Records will not be able to inform you that a new record has been set. So please remember to check with us to confirm the current record that you have to beat before making your attempt. You can check the current record by logging into your online account and clicking on the relevant CLAIM ID, or you can give us a call using the phone numbers indicated at the end of this email.

So I have read through this documentation. I think I am going to contact Guinness sometime tomorrow. Probably around my lunch slot and see what it takes to open up a new category for competition. I am unsure of what large scale processes exist for creating cotton candy. I would assume that a cotton candy factory would have some form of bulk continuous process which would probably be larger then any reactor we would build.

For theoretical purpose of  attempting the record referenced in this email I included this nifty table of building heights in Louisville metro to provide a basis of comparison.
