Old stuff :)  Similar: Write Only Memory- http://www2.vmi.edu/Faculty/squirejc/Research/IC_Datasheets/digital_cmos/Write%20Only%20Memory.pdf

The datasheet ended up in the Signetics data book as an April fool's joke, and they had to remove it because they started getting orders for the non-existent part.

I absolutely lost it at "First-in, Never-out (FINO) Asynchronous Buffers" and "prevents the entrapment of harmful ions, but which allows the free exchange of friendly ions."  The water faucet in the block diagram was a great touch.

I think we should start a consultancy and produce datasheets like these as a tool to help businesses weed out bad engineers.  Everybody loves HR, right?

Part of the gag was the number of digits in the part number. In 1972, five digits was uncommon for a real product. I first saw this published as full pages in the April 1972 "Electronics" magazine, or maybe "Electronics Design". It was the engineering library's archive copy, so I suppressed the urge to just take it home.

The most memorable part for me was the graph at the bottom-left of the last page. The "Number of pins remaining" plotted to "Number of socket insertions".

I guess you had to be there.

Oh, Lordy! Just took a closer look and the block diagram of the thing is totally scummed. Can't make out any detail at all. Not even the pin for the "Data Drain".

Gotta find a readable copy of this one. Improves the humor content.

For some of us.
