OK, I know this may be putting the cart before the horse (OK Cart before the foal that will someday be a horse…)

But, I have a project for consideration:

(I said we were working TO the capability she needs… didn’t say we were THERE yet……)

The specific design looks like it would lend itself to the handiwork of a wire-wrap jewelry designer over a casting….

Getting a swivel in the location requested will be a challenge….

I'm signing up as a judge!!!  Thanks!!!  :)

I want to pick your brain for a minute...at one of the lunch bunches, you mentioned a group (LVL1??) that can make molds for jewelers.  I am hoping someone in that group can make me a prototype for one of my hooks!!

Here is exactly what I am looking for: an over-the-door S-shaped hook that will fit over a door 3 cm in width, and that can carry a minimum of 15 lbs.  I want the hook to resemble an oversized safety pin, with the addition of a swivel at the head of the safety pin.  Ideally, the head can rotate 180 degres so that when opened, it works like an S-shaped over-the-door hook, but when closed, it could hook into itself in a compact safety pin.  I don't care what kind of materials are used, so long as it can hold 15 lbs when attached to a door and is able to retract back to a safety pin.

I attached some drawings of what exactly I am looking for.  Do you think anyone in the group could help me???  Do you know of anyone else who can?  I've reached out to a few manufacturers, but they cost an arm and a leg....

Thanks again for the Science Fair info!  And thanks for the information about LVL1.  :)

Hello fellow MENSANS

More information about what you're signing up for is at : http://www.lrsf.org/Dot_ViewCategory.asp?idcategoryMain=103&idcategory=122

Dear Prospective Judge...

We are asking for your help by donating your expertise and time to serve as a judge at the Louisville Regional Science Fair (LRSF). This is an important educational opportunity for the young and talented students of our local regional area.

The LRSF will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the University of Louisville, in the Swain Student Activities Center.  There will be several more schools participating this year and we will need approximately 165-170 judges to help in this endeavor.  It will take between 4 & 5 hours of your time on Saturday, March 10th.

All morning judges are requested to gather by 7:45am for a "judging" orientation before the competition commences.  All student entrants will be judged in the morning session that ends at 12noon.  Judges for the afternoon competition will gather for their orientation at 12:30pm with the judging session lasting from 1pm to 4pm (approximately).
Again, please share this information with your colleagues who may be interested in volunteering for this very worthwhile service, to help our talented young students as they compete in this year's science fair.
