Chuan (Chinese: 串, Dungan: Чўан, pinyin: chun, "kebab/skewer"; Uyghur: كاۋاپ, кавап, "kawap"), especially in the north-east of China referred to as chuan'r (Chinese: 串儿), are small pieces of meat roasted on skewers.[1] Chuan originated in the Xinjiang region of China.[2] It has been spread throughout the rest of the country, most notably in Beijing, Tianjin, Jinan and Jilin, where it is a popular street food. It is a product of the Chinese Islamic cuisine of the Uyghur people and other Chinese Muslims.[3]

In Tianjin and Jinan, chuan is often served with small round breads (馅饼, xin bǐng), also grilled with the same spices. Xin bǐng technically means "pie" or "filled bread". After cooking the bread and meat, the bread is split open and chuan meat is stuffed inside, then eaten together.

In 2013, it was reported that the Beijing authorities were destroying open-air chuan barbecues in a bid to reduce pollution from small particles that can enter deep into the lungs. Hundreds of barbecues were reportedly confiscated over a three-month period, leading to ridicule from the local Beijing population.[5]

Pernod Ricard signed today an agreement to sell the Becherovka brand and related assets (including the production and logistics facilities in Karlovy Vary) to Maspex Group. The closing of the transaction remains subject to customary conditions and is expected to occur before the end of June 2024.

This is hands down the best Chinese food and some of the best food overall in Raleigh. It's not even close. The food is incredible and the owners are so nice. Service is so efficient considering they get tons of online orders. I'm in love with chuan cafe. It's a little pricey but you should order to share and quality isn't cheap.

Chuan Cafe is one of the best Chinese food options around here. It offers Szechuan cuisine with minimalistic decor. A must-try is the Bamboo Flounder Fish, and the Dry-Fried String Beans were really good! Some dishes might cause a mouth-numbing sensation due to Szechuan peppers.
