This is a complete list of all country ISO codes as described in the ISO 3166 international standard.
These codes are used throughout the IT industry by computer systems and software to ease the identification of country names.
We have compiled them in the quick reference table below in order to help our clients do quick conversions from the numeric or 2 letter code to any country name.
Country codes constitute the international telephone numbering plan. They are used only when dialing a telephone number in a country or world region other than the caller's. Country codes are dialed before the national telephone number, but require at least one additional prefix, the international call prefix which is an exit code from the national numbering plan to the international one. In most countries, this prefix is 00, an ITU recommendation; it is 011 in the countries of the North American Numbering Plan while a minority of countries use other prefixes.
Some of the larger countries were assigned two-digit codes to compensate for their usually longer domestic numbers. Small countries were assigned three-digit codes, which also has been the practice since the 1980s.
The assignment of countries or areas to specific groupings is for statistical convenience and does not imply any assumption regarding political or other affiliation of countries or territories by the United Nations.
The list of countries or areas contains the names of countries or areas in alphabetical order, their three-digit numerical codes used for statistical processing purposes by the Statistics Division of the United Nations Secretariat, and their three-digit alphabetical codes assigned by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).1 In general, this list of countries or areas includes those countries or areas for which statistical data are compiled by the Statistics Division of the United Nations Secretariat.
The names of countries or areas refer to their short form used in day-to-day operations of the United Nations and not necessarily to their official name as used in formal documents. These names are based on the United Nations Terminology Database (UNTERM).2 The designations employed and the presentation of material at this site do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the Secretariat of the United Nations concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries.
The list of geographic regions presents the composition of geographical regions used by the Statistics Division in its publications and databases. Each country or area is shown in one region only. These geographic regions are based on continental regions; which are further subdivided into sub-regions and intermediary regions drawn as to obtain greater homogeneity in sizes of population, demographic circumstances and accuracy of demographic statistics.

Member States of the European Union (EU) and other countries have been assigned a two-letter country code, always written in capital letters, and often used as an abbreviation in statistical analyses, tables, figures or maps.
The protocol order in which countries are often listed is based on the alphabetical list of countries in their national language for EU and EFTA Member States and for candidate countries; for potential candidates, it is based on the alphabetical order of their country code.
EU Member States come first, followed by European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Member States, candidate countries for EU membership, potential candidates and, finally, other countries. The order in the tables below is first column down, then second column down, etc..

I know currently this isn't a function that can be applied when creating discount codes in Shopify, but I'm looking to create a discount code that applies only to customers from a specific country (UK).
I am aware of certain apps that have this functionality built in, and am currently using one such app on a free plan, but my issue with that is that the apps I've tried don't allow for a Shopify Automatic Discount which I'd also like to take advantage of in store for all users.
I am aware of that option, but as I mentioned in my question, that relies entirely upon the customer having an account and being logged in for the country specific discount to then be applied. It doesn't work for all visitors from that specific country so therefore doesn't work for my needs.
I know of the apps as well, and am currently using Discount Ninja, but they don't allow for their discount codes to work in collaboration with Shopify Automatic Discounts so I'm looking for a workaround to that issue as well.
No worries. It turns out Shopify had made alterations to how you set up a 'Buy X Get Y' discount code without me knowing, so as my issue was directly related to the currency exchange rate padding that is set NOT being applied to discount codes when currency is converted, it was easily resolved by simply changing my discount code from a fixed amount of the cost of one item (which I had to do as previously you couldn't set a maximum number of times the 'Buy X Get Y' would be allowed to be used per order each time it became eligible) to a 'Buy X Get Y' discount with a maximum number of uses per order of 1.
Found a solution. In the shipping rates of custom or calculated you can add a 'handling fee' which you can set to negative say -5.00 and it will apply to the shipping per country. see the docs: -up-and-managing-your-shipping/setting-up-shippin...
We have developed an application that allows you to generate exclusive discounts through Shopify Markets. You can create massive discounts, discount codes and automatic discounts. You can even exclude discount codes if the product already has a compare at price discount.
The codes in ISO 3166 are available on the Online Browsing Platform. The information on the OBP is always up to date and you can sign up for notifications to be informed when changes are made by clicking on the follow function in the top right-hand corner.
We also have a product, the Country Codes Collection, which you can preview free of charge on the OBP (where you will also find a decoding table). It contains the codes from Parts 1, 2 and 3 of ISO 3166 in three different formats (.xml, .csv, and .xls) for easy integration into your own systems. You will be notified when changes are made so you can download the latest versions. In this way, you can be sure that your database is always using the most up-to-date information from ISO.
The country codes can be represented either as a two-letter code (alpha-2) which is recommended as the general-purpose code, a three-letter code (alpha-3) which is more closely related to the country name and a three-digit numeric code (numeric-3) which can be useful if you need to avoid using Latin script.
The codes for subdivisions are represented as the alpha-2 code for the country, followed by up to three characters. For example ID-RI is the Riau province of Indonesia and NG-RI is the Rivers province in Nigeria. Names and codes for subdivisions are usually taken from relevant official national information sources.

ISO 3166 is an international standard which defines codes representing names of countries and their subdivisions. The standard specifies basic guidelines for the implementation and maintenance of country and subdivisions codes. Most people refer to ISO 3166, but actually it is divided into three parts.
Part 1 establishes codes that represent the current names of countries, dependencies, and other areas of particular geopolitical interest, on the basis of country names obtained from the United Nations.
If users need code elements to represent country names not included in the code corresponding to this document, the series of letters AA, QM to QZ, XA to XZ, and ZZ, and the series AAA to AAZ, QMA to QZZ, XAA to XZZ, and ZZA to ZZZ respectively, and the series of numbers 900 to 999 are available.
Users are advised that, because these code elements are defined by themselves, they are not compatible between different entities.There is no ISO procedure for the assignment of user-assigned code elements.
The ISO 3166 Maintenance Agency (MA) is responsible to maintain the officially assigned set of country codes and their subdivisions, which are accessible on the ISO Online Browsing Platform (OBP) at www.iso.org/obp/
The predecessor codes for country names were developed outside ISO for various purposes. They turned out to be very useful for commerce and communications, but the different lists were not consistent and did not always match. The first ISO country codes were published in ISO 3166:1974.
There are many uses for ISO 3166. Many organizations use the codes to identify countries unambiguously across languages (e.g. to distinguish between Austria/Australia and Sweden/Switzerland); international organizations often use the codes in logistics, medical information, financial transaction/currency codes, telecommunications, travel, and postal services. By using ISO 3166 codes, clarity is provided in communicating information to people and organizations around the globe, without having to know local languages and dialects.
