Youcan get the Netflix app from the Google Play Store on phones and tablets with Android OS version 5 (Lollipop) or later. To get the latest version, your device must have Android OS version 7 (Nougat) or later.
Navigation
Search for titles by tapping the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the app. You can also scroll through rows of recommended genres on the home screen, or browse all genres from the menu in the upper left corner. To fast forward or rewind, tap anywhere on the screen, then slide your finger either forward or backward along the progress bar. Press the back button to exit the movie.
Picture in Picture (Android 8 or later)
Some Android phones and tablets allow you to watch Netflix while using other apps. Not all Android devices and operating systems are compatible. For detailed instructions and support on using Picture in Picture, contact your device manufacturer.
Because a wide variety of devices with different capabilities use the Android operating system, certain Android devices are not compatible with the download feature. If you're using the latest version of the Netflix app and are not able to download Netflix content, you will need to use a different device to use this feature.
Android devices using these chipsets can also play Netflix in HD. To find out what chipset your Android device uses, we recommend searching for your device model's hardware specifications on the web or contacting the company that made it.
To play Netflix in HD video quality, Android phones and tablets must use Widevine L1. Widevine allows your Android device to play videos and other content with DRM (digital rights management) protections.
If you see L3, it means your device can only play Netflix in SD video quality. If you believe your device should have Widevine L1, contact the company that made it for help.
Use the options below to see Android phone and tablet models that can play Netflix video in HDR (High Dynamic Range). To learn more about watching Netflix in HDR, go to how to get the best video quality.

Facing the same issue on Netflix. Getting an Error 5.8. Right after that the App hangs. Tried restarting phone, reinstalling the App and also cleared Cache. Results are the same. Currently running 2.5.5.b.
@NotP2a This is not the working fix as I was watching shows normally a few days ago and today everything just went haywire. Nothing played and it kept giving me the .10 or .8 errors and then quite a few times the app just crashes or takes obscenely long to open which was not seen the day before. I have tried restarting my 2a and reinstalling the app. I have tried all the other methods stated above or in the Netflix forum. For context i have the 2a white with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage.
I'm not sure how to clear the cache from my phone. So I recently downloaded Netflix and every time I press the play button it's just a black screen and the loading circle is spinning and it says loading but it's like in a loop. Whenever I press the button that brings up all the open windows it freezes. Not even the screen button works I can't turn my screen off and I can't turn my screen on and it won't even let me restart the phone. So far Netflix is the only application that causes this issue. If anyone has any information whatsoever on how to fix it or if it can't be fixed because it's an issue with Netflix and maybe software protocols inside the Samsung Galaxy A14, please somebody out there have an answer.
I have same issue. About 3 weeks ago, the video didnt work only netflix and youtube app. I shut down my phone. Unfortunately, it wasnt perfect solution. I also did reset all settings. It seemed to have solved problem completely, but I get same issue now. I want to know which thing occurs this problem, with apps or IOS? No matter what it is, it needs to be updated.
Overall it feels like there is some great engineering going on behind the scenes, but product / customer focus is non- existent. How about rectifying that with a roadmap and regular updates, for starters? I think you could make a lot of people happy
Strategy now (2022) is to reach a wider userbase, by means of 1) a smartphone app, and 2) features for learners that still early in their journey to learn a language, in addition to making numerous improvements to existing features. The vision for Language Reactor will hopefully come together, and the whole will be more than the sum of the parts.
I am unable to cast to Roku from mobiles without login into Netflix from the Roku device. in my home, we have multiple netflix accounts and everytime it requires the users to log in to Roku separately
With casting, the mobile device (your phone) sends a command to the streaming device (your Roku) telling it to launch the app (Netflix), load the particular content, and proceed to the corresponding timestamp.
What many think happens is the phone is dong the streaming. They're incorrect. Once you start casting to Roku (or Chromecast, which works the same way), the stream is now from the Roku, which means the Roku app is running. If the app requires you to log in to use, then you must log in to use.
You can confirm this by casting something, then while it's playing on Roku, shut your phone off. The stream will still continue on Roku, because the Roku only got the instructions about streaming from the phone, not the stream itself.
@fenfinolhu Multiple accounts or multiple profiles? Like DB said if you have Netflix on your Roku and Netflix on your phone your not really casting. Your just giving a command to your Roku to start the Netflix channel. Then your Roku takes over
Actually, in chromecast netflix works without a need or requirement to login in. It passes authentication. similarly, youtube passes authentication to Roku and you will see your username logged in.
Apparently, Netflix doesn't allow to pass authentication to Roku as youtube does. Netflix support confirmed that only chrome cast supports the option like that.
I wish Roku work with Netflix to support the same.
I monitored several logs while I was trying to run a 4k video on my phone. I couldn't find any relevant traces. The CPU of my APU is also not maxed at all. Ram looks ok, too. I have no idea right now, what the cause could be. Anyone any idea? Thanks for reading!
Thanks , That solved the issues with Youtube on all affected devices. Netflix is still stuck at 50Mbit/s, but that doesn't bother me sicne i had no buffering issues at higher resolutions. Thanks again, much appreciated!
I have a 15GB / month broadband plan (unlimited data doesn't exist where I live, far too expensive) and bought a basic chromecast to display downloaded content (Netflix and Youtube) on my tv for my kid. I am going through my data at an alarming rate (5GB after a couple of hours watching what I thought was downloaded content). Is this expected behaviour or am I missing a setting somewhere? Even when watching live netflix, for a kids program that Netflix says is 48mb, it seemed to used 10 times this. It is too old a tv to be 4k. TIA for enlightening me whats going on and if its even possible to rectify!
If you are using the casting icon, you're actually using twice the data because that tells Netflix or YouTube to stream the content from their servers to your Chromecast. It does NOT use the copy that you downloaded on your device.
