I already know about Open in Browser, but I like the auto-update feature with Real-Time Preview. What I want to know is why doesn't the following info from Adobe work (How to troubleshoot issues with Device Preview in Dreamweaver ). I know that some ports work and other don't, but DW keeps using random port numbers instead of the one that I assigned, per the instructions below:
When it works, it works with any file. I believe it has to do with the port number. Because the port numbers are random, some of them work and some of them do not.. However, there does not seem to be a way to specify the port number. It would be very helpful if the port number could be specified under Preferences. Setting up a Json file seems unnecessarily complicated. Not that it is hard, but it seems unnecessary when it would be easy enough to specify under Preferences. In any case, the Json file does not work.
In the newer versions of Dreamweaver the basic task of selecting lines of code has changed. Unlike previously, selecting a line number in code view & then shift clicking another line number of code below does not select that chunk of code & no combinations of modifier keys works to select the code, aside from selecting a line number & dragging down nothing I can figure out works to that effect, Does anyone know how I might select multiple lines of code in code view without having to scroll. Scrolling tends to crash my machine. Thanks.
Instead of clicking the line number, click the first insertion point in the actual code for that line, then shift click an insertion point after the last character you want selected in the last line of code.
The older versions of DW (2015 and earlier) would select the code block eit
Just to make sure I'm understanding the question. I have an open document with line numbers displayed from Code view options. I click on 57, Ctrl+click on 58 and Ctrl+click on 59. Result: All 3 blocks of code are highlighted (see screenshot).
Instead of clicking the line number, click the first insertion point in the actual code for that line, then shift click an insertion point after the last character you want selected in the last line of code.
The older versions of DW (2015 and earlier) would select the code block either way. The new ones appear to only allow the use of insertion points and not the line numbers (at least 2019 and 2020, but likely back to 2017 when Brackets was added).
So, I award the overzealous moniker. In my book, it's pretty much useless given all of the other validation tools already available for saved files. I don't need a bunch of red line numbers on code I know to be correct, that the Linter just doesn't like.
In addition, Dreamweaver also shows a quick error preview in the line number column of the erroneous line. The line number is displayed in red to indicate that it contains errors, and when you hover over it, a brief description of the error is displayed.
Choosing another port for FTP access
Sometimes, however, server administrators change the port setting of 21 to another port to prevent unauthorized FTP access. In those situations, Dreamweaver can be set to access a different port by adding the port number to the end of the FTP host name, as outlined below:
We have discused this and items such as how new features should be decided on, a number of times in this forum, and no one has yet thought of a method that does not rely on user participation, or feedback from user groups which could be a large group who have never actually worked in web development, to an individual with 20 years experiance, all whos opinions as individuals carries the same weight.
Depending on your style purchased, there may be additional steps we can utilize to clean your stain. Email us at in...@engineeredfloors.com. You will need to know the style name or number of the carpet you purchased and the nature of the stain you have encountered. Based on that information, we can recommend a course of action to improve your stain.
You can select Code view options to change the way code appears in Code view. When you select the Code View Options command on the View menu or use individual buttons on the Code toolbar, you can set options to set word wrapping, display line numbers, hide characters, highlight invalid code, color code, indent code automatically, and display syntax error alerts in the Info bar.

Using the cursor in this way, you can select any portion of the code or its entirety. However, using the cursor in this way can be prone to error, causing you to miss vital portions of the code. At times, using line numbers to select whole lines of code is easier.
Most code editors have some kind of feature that allows you to validate code in the currently open file, a series of selected files, or the specified managed site, and you should be able to use this tool to validate a number of different markup languages, including HTML, XHTML, HTML5, JSP, CFML, XML, and WML. If your code editor does not include a code validator, use an online validator.
I would love to have a highlighter tool in my Coding toolbar. With a highlighter tool, I could quickly highlight code when I was interrupted while working on a coding issue. Upon my return, I could quickly scan down the code to locate the issue. A highlighter tool would also be a great tool for instructors. When I was grading pages and pages of code for my web design students, I would ask the students to copy the code, paste it into Word, then highlight and number the code to be graded. This saved immense time. How lovely it would be to be able to highlight code in Dreamweaver! Would you be interested in a Code View highlighter tool?
Here the New Boston shows you some tips about using the Spry Validation Text Field. To begin you will go to the Spry Validation Text Field, on Dreamweaver CS4. Looking at the bottom of the page notice the various options that are available for Properties. You find drop-down boxes for Type, Pattern, Minimum or Maximum values, Required, Enforce pattern, Format, Validate on, Blur or Change and Preview States. You can see the types of text available for validating by left mouse clicking the Type drop-down. These options include Integer, Email Address, Date, Time, Credit Card, Zip Code, Phone Number, Social Security Number, Currency, Real Number/Scientific Notation, IP Address, URL or Custom text. This Spry Validation contains the most options for validating the text field. You might know that the Integer is going to be a number or numbers that do not carry decimal points. The date format includes many options you can validate according to the way you prefer the date formatted easily. Using the date format validation the month or day can be typed into the text field using either 01 or 1, but the year should include the same number of digits as there are letters in the option you select. For your time option the single t is used when you want to indicate morning as a or afternoon and evening as p, if you choose "tt" you should indicate morning as am and afternoon and evening as pm. Phone numbers can be custom patterned in the pattern field if you don't want the other options. When validating currency in Dreamweaver there should be no dollar sign, Euro sign or other annotation or the currency will come back 'invalid format.' This validator here will require http:// (http, colon, forward slash, forward slash). Your 'blur' option lets you type into the text box without interruption, the validator will only come into action after you click outside of the box. The 'change' option will cause validation to take place with each letter or character typed into the text box.
