StatusThis problem is unresolved, and probably related to newer versions of DirectX. The game remains playable, while lacking some in-game information. Please write a comment if you have found a fix for this problem.

As of now, this problem seems to be unsolvable, and the only solution to run the game under a native 32-bit operating system (Wine under Linux is reported, but not confirmed, to work; I am about to test the game using Wine for Windows). If you know of any workaround to get this game to run in 64-bit Windows, please write a comment.

The game failing to run when there is too much video memory is a good point. I failed to consider that the game might be working on my 32-bit system simply because it has an older video card than my 64-bit system.

My w7 ult x64 4gig SSD self built machine runs it fine but mouse interactions do not work.

the solution seems to be memory related, you can set up boot setings in Vista onwards as per here:

restricting to 2 gig seems to allow it to work for some reason.

Anyways, I solved the blue screen issue looking for its message (DATA_KERNEL_INPAGE_ERROR) on the internet. The cause was that I deactivated Windows Update and so I never updated System, and then some .sys files went corrupted.

There is a criminal shortage of Motocross games (*unsubtle hint to the industry*), so being able to play the classics in multiplayer is fantastic. Braaaapp indeed!
