Dear All,

It was a great get together yesterday at iftar, we would like to thank
everybody who participated and contributed towards arrangements.

As you are aware 14th August is approaching and we would like to have
another iftar party. We would like to call for another fundraiser. I
hope that with your generous contributions we will be able to make the
coming iftar a memorable one. Please note that a large number of
people come daily to masjid for iftar and this is can be a small
opportunity for us to show our generosity and hospitality as a nation
as well.

We would like more Pakistani to show their willingness and
contributions (not only financial but) in every way. As this is one is
on our independence day, please come up and make this iftar a very
special event.

The financial contributions can be made to the following account

NATWEST Account Number: 35679476
Sort code: 01-04-92
Account name: MR H ASIF

Please contact us for any suggestions and questions.

Kind Regards,
PAKSOC

AOA,

I have got some feedback from some persons that last event of Aftar by lupak society was not publisized properly and it should be advertised on every possible forum, like facebook, personal contacts etc.

And also I have observed personally that even most of the society executive members were also absent. At least society Executive Committee should ensure its presence to make event successful.

Was any LUPAK Society Executive Committee meeting was called to arrange aftar party?

regards
Shahid Ayub

Dear Shahid,

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I agree that the iftar event should be
publicized on every forum, like email from isoc and facebook.
Now as per your comment on executive committee members, should i let u
know that the members of executive committee like President and
General Sec. were present there. And rest were absent like most of the
society members ( if every pakistani student is a member of society).
I dont think there was any need to call for a meeting of exec.
committee members to arrange the event as President and Gen. Sec were
totally on board with the progress in line with Hafiz Asif and Haroon
Khan (the main organizers). Rest members have not been active in
recent past, i think they have thier commitments.

Thanks and regards,

Asmar Khan

Assalam O Alaikum,

Being present on the occasion, I have some observations and recommendations.
MashAllah it was a good effort by the society to give an opportunity to all its members to be rewarded from Almighty Allah by organizing the iftari. Since this is a month of blessings and rewards so ideally every day iftari should be arranged by the society.
The snacks and meal tasted good on the day but i opine the quantity was not sufficient enough to meet the number of guests present there particularly snacks and rice. I would recommend either to increase the amount of rice or add 'roti' to be eaten with 'salan' for such a menu. It would have been better if one or two persons were assigned to refill the bowls for the guests whomever demands for more. It would be better if the contents of the meal is made a bit more rich in terms of nutrition or ingredients.
Since participation in any form in such events are rewardable, the members can be informed of the various options available or required.

Kind regards,
Abdul Ghaffar

Salam,

Thank you for the suggestions - we have taken them on board and also welcome similar suggestions.

Families are welcomed of course and traditional clothing is the theme of the event. Considering the scope of the event, we would request more participation from our members to ensure this event is run smoothly. For this, we need volunteers to assist in managing the work load. Some of the things we need help with are mentioned below;

1. Preparation of Iftar item (to be done in the masjid)
2. Arrangement of the food before Iftar.
3. Distribution of the food for dinner and also refills.
4. Cleaning up afterwards,
5. Photographs of the event.

If volunteers could show up at least an hour before Iftar in the masjid and help us with the above, it would be much appreciated. We hope everyone would assume some responsibility and would participate in some way, shape or form.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the event.

Kind regards,
PAKSOC.

Dear Ghaffar Bhai and All "Contributing" Pakistanis!

With all due respect, I find your email equal parts insulting and hilarious.

You suggest having served, more, richer and better food with more variety as if we do not have an appreciation for the finer things in life. Let me assure you that we do. The only problem is that of all this COSTS MONEY.

I am sure years of sitting together and bemoaning the fact that we get only 700 pounds a month would by now have given everyone a very good appreciation of what the almighty Pound is worth, and what you can and cannot buy with X amount of pounds.

What I find insulting and, quite frankly disgusting about your mail is that you are actually latently criticizing the arrangements instead of appreciating the fact that the organizers arranged an above par iftar DESPITE THE MEASLY CONTRIBUTIONS FROM PAKISTANIS.

CASE IN POINT, you suggest more people should have actually distributed food to the people there. HELLO?!?!?!

As you so eloquently pointed out in your email, you were "present on the occasion" when you made these astute observations. I would like to ask you .. WHAT WAS STOPPING YOU from leaving your iftari, standing up and serving your fellow Muslims for eesal-e-sawab??? Are you implying that the people who were actually working and making all the arrangements were being paid to do so??? FYI I am not even a formal member of the Pakistani society, and quite definitely is neither Ibrahim (a Turkish citizen) who was also serving ....

As everyone knows, there are people who DO and people who sit on the sidelines and COMMENT.

In case you are curious, your suggestion that the Pakistani society should arrange iftar EVERY SINGLE DAY was the part of your email that had me laughing all day long.

WE would REALLY love to take up your suggestion but you must forgive us for our ineptitude in doing so, as the tree where we used to grow our free money was recently burned during the riots. On my part I am convinced it was a joint Israeli, American and Indian Sazish. So, till the time we get another tree, we will have to put the Iftari everyday plan on a hold.

VERY KIND regards and Was'Salam

Assalam O Alaikum dear Haroon Bhai,

My apology if my e-mail has given out any notion of negative picture of the event to you or to anybody else. The intention was just to give a feedback what i thought to make the event better. MashAllah the event was good overall.

Kind regards,
Abdul Ghaffar

I am sorry Ghaffar bhai for my public rant. Please do accept my apologies. It was a spur of the moment thing and I should have thought better than having said all those things in public.

Your feedback is always appreciated. Just a reminder that all of us are part of the muslim brotherhood as well as the Pakistani society at large, any feedback is a feedback to us (i.e. to yourself and to me and all). So basically we giving feedback to ourselves and should ask ourselves "what can I do to make this thing better". I won't be present myself but by all accounts the Iftar today would be much better arranged and would satisfy all the concerns you raised insha'Allah. However, the administration still needs the help of all, details of which can be discussed with Mr. Asmar and Mr. Uzair who would be present at iftar today.

Once again do accept my apologise and please forgive me if I have hurt your feelings in any way.

May Allah reward you for all your efforts during Ramadan and after and accept all your ibadat.

Salam everyone,

We would like to thank everyone who has helped in this event, which was a success. There were approximately 100 people for the Independence day Iftar/dinner - a turn out not seen before this month in the masjid.

Congratulations and also special thanks to Syed Asad, Rafi Us Shan, Amir Rashid, Hafiz Asif, Hassan Moazzan and Hammad Naeem for their support.

All the best,

Kind regards,
PAKSOC.
