Event Mission: The United Nations General Assembly designated March
22nd of each year as World Water Day. This year, residents in the
Triangle will gather and recognize World Water Day with a “water walk
pour Haiti” event. Triangle residents will gather downtown Durham and
walk an almost 2 miles walk to raise money and awareness for the on-
going work that must continue as the people of Haiti rebuild their
country. This year we have chosen a dynamic and unique organization,
The Lambi Fund. This grassroot organization operates on the premise
that Haitian people understand how best to achieve sustainable
development in their country. We, members of the Triangle, want to
make our contributions to that reality.
Event Overview: Participants of “water walk pour Haiti” will check in,
collect their water filled containers and their event T-shirts, and
begin their walk around downtown Durham at 10:00 am. Simulating a
typical water-gathering experience mostly for women and children,
walkers will carry their containers by hand, head or back. Following
the walk, participants will meet back at Blue Coffee Café, 202
Corcoran Street. There, we will celebrate and share more in-depth
information about The Lambi Fund and other organizations working in
Haiti.
