Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Biology

 

Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for a tenure track position in the area of Biology at the Assistant Professor level.  Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences from an accredited university.  ABD applications may be considered.  The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in undergraduate/graduate teaching and show the potential for engaging in a program of research that incorporates undergraduate students. The preference is for a broadly trained biologist within a discipline relevant to the degree areas in the department. The primary teaching responsibilities for the position may include introductory biology and courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Teaching experience at the secondary or college level is highly desired but not required. Experience in, or a willingness to teach online and participate in teaching abroad is also desirable.

 

Southeastern Oklahoma State University, founded in 1909 as a teacher college, continues the strong tradition of producing outstanding educators for southeast Oklahoma and north Texas.  Student enrollment on the campus(s) is approximately 4,500 and the campus is situated in rural Oklahoma.  The main campus is located in Durant, Oklahoma, which is 80 miles north of Dallas, Texas, and 150 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. The community is close to Lake Texoma and the Choctaw Casino Resort. Southeastern Oklahoma State University continues to be among the nation’s most affordable universities according to the U. S. News & World Report’s America’s Best colleges. The Department of Biological Sciences offers Bachelor’s degrees in: Medical Sciences (an Interdisciplinary program), Biology (with focus areas in Health Sciences, Botany, and Zoology), and Fish and Wildlife Sciences. Currently we also offer one graduate program resulting in a Master of Technology-Biology and are part of the Curriculum & Instruction online Masters Program under the Science emphasis.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The preferred start date is August 1, 2019, and may require multiple campus assignments as well as varied time and delivery methods. Review of applications will begin March 1, 2019 and continue until the position is filled.
