luPOD Seminar: Where’d my day go? Productivity, enabling (social-)technologies, on-the-job training
Date: Monday 23 FEB 2015
Time: 1:00 pm to 3.00 pm (sharp!)
Place: LU campus, room to be announced
Organizer: Lund PostDoc Society
Registration Deadline: 19 FEB 2015
Description
This seminar introduces postdocs to basic concepts of productivity and its typical pitfalls (“black holes”), including ways of identifying and improving on non-value adding tasks (“muda”), and options for using the time-saved so as to meaningfully further one’s career (on-the-job training). A range of electronic tools as well as social technologies, but also common individual and group pathologies will be presented, knowledge of which may assist in making the most of one’s day. Subsequently, on-the-job training options, available at LU and elsewhere, as well as one’s legal right to these are outlined, which postdocs may make use of in order to further develop their skill set in pursuing university or industry careers. Ample room for audience interaction is provided.
The seminar is open to all LU pre and postdocs, widely conceived.
